Subject: Re: When did you become aware of your Adulthood?

Forum: When did you become aware of your Adulthood?
Hi Musicisbreath,

Congratulations on reaching adulthood! :D

I think the time when I felt I reached adulthood was when I was out in the dating world and I went to a nearby city to spend a few nights with this guy I had been chatting to for a month or so. My parents did not stop me and I was essentially “on my own” for a few days and a couple nights. I was with this man, of course, and I was also on my own (using my own funds) if anything happened. Spending time with him was not bad and he was an interesting person, though there were some things that I would have been better off not experiencing and I felt on my own in a way.

Of course, being an adult does not necessarily mean you will be “on your own”, though it does mean that you have your own choices to make and the result of those choices are all your responsibility. Being mature in that situation is based on how you are BEING in the face of the results of your choices.

I think the next time I am aware of my adulthood will be when I graduate with my B.A. in Psychology in 3 quarters. I will suddenly have a new and opened space before me, so what will I do? I have many things that I am up to in life and that I will do after graduation.

Cheers!

Subject: What Is Your Vision/Commitment To Others/The World

Forum: What Is Your Vision/Commitment To Others/The World
What are you committed to fulfilling for yourself, for others, and the world?
What is your vision of the future with this commitment fulfilled?

____________

I am committed that people have an elevated experience of themselves. And that out of being with me, their experience of life alters. I am committed that everyone around me receives this, and that the world experiences and elevation of performance, love, self-expression, and peace.

My vision, what does commitment fulfilled, looks like children being heard by their parents, teachers listening for what is important to stand and what they need, institutions providing for people, and daily life is experience as something extraordinary. Everyone is enlivened by others and themselves.

Forum: Big Changes!!
Hi Morgan,

I am so happy that you and your family were able to find a great school for your daughter! I am sure she will be happy there. Good luck on your family's journey and thank you for sharing!

The last time I experienced a big change was recently. My business partner and I decided to dissolve Staera, our eCommerce business. Even though I am only saving 8-12 hours per week of time, it feels like I am saving 20 hours because of the thought energy put into owning and running an eCommerce store.

I am very happy about this transition because although I love entrepreneurship and business, I really am not intensely passionate about selling clothing. I will be successful in whatever I choose to do next, I know it. What I have learned from Staera is probably a good chunk more than what most business majors know.

Cheers!

Subject: Handy Skills

Forum: Handy Skills
Do you have any handy skills?
Any skills that are particularly useful and also uncommon?
Some examples are cooking, sewing, growing food, wood/leather work, etc.

____________

Last night I decided to take in the waist of these dress pants I recently bought at Goodwill. I am really glad I got back into the swing of things, since I am an amateur seamstress. I definitely would not say that I hone extraordinary sewing skills. However, I know enough sewing techniques, both hand and machine, that if need be, I can sew myself a simple poncho, pillow, alter existing clothes (to an extent), and make a skirt.

I hope to create time during the holidays or summer to actually sew some pants or a cute crop top. I enjoy sewing and it is a great skill to have!

Next on my list is to hem a pair of dress pants (I am petite), take in another waist, finish the hemming for a skirt I made (like 10 years ago), and turn a couple of t-shirts into some cute crop tops (or something cuter).

I have a friend who makes cool stuff with leather. It is really well-made and I was fairly impressed when he showed it to me.

Subject: Are You Religious And/Or Spiritual?

Forum: Are You Religious And/Or Spiritual?
Are you religious?
Are you spiritual?
If yes, what religion and/or spirituality do you follow?
If no to either, why not?

____________

I would say that I am spiritual and not very religious. I have done energy healing before and I also believe that there is some kind of Collective Consciousness/Source/God/Universe/Higher Self/Infinite Intelligence out there. I also believe in life after death and life before birth. Also, chakras, crystals, and meditation, and affirmative prayer are crucial to personal and spiritual development.

I will not go into the depth of what I believe in here because of time and typing limit, however, I will say that I am deeply fascinated and hold deep regards to the world religions. Particularly after listening to most of Jordan Peterson's "Psychological Significance Of The Biblical Stories". One of my friend's is Jewish and I have been meaning to ask him more about the traditions and what he believes in because I think Judaism is fascinating! Part of the reason I am learning Hebrew is so that I can be connected with people of other faiths.

All in all, I am not particularly religious. Though I do attend a Unity church that I love. I believe in energy healing, such as Reiki, and I do believe there is an Higher Source of some sort out there as well as in here (within ourselves).

Forum: How much do you plan/prepare for the future?
Hi Wanderer,

I have a plan for my financial future for the next 2 years. Generally, I know what I will be doing a month out in advanced. I do have spontaneity in my life, so I will have last minute plans and such as I go through my week. I like to take about 10 minutes or so each night to see what did/did not get accomplished in the day, what was missing (that which would make a difference), and what is going on tomorrow.

Forum: Do you believe in reincarnation?
Hi Beth,

I would not say that I believe that reincarnation is the only way to do things after he passed. I definitely believe that it is one way to do things. I’ve have heard lots of stories about people who have memories of past lives before the age of five.

The world Universe is mysterious and I think things are too simplistic if we have only say there is one way to experience afterlife.

Hi Sarah,

I am at Stage 1 for sure. I want to be a consultant for organizations. I want to be an Industrial Organizational Psychologist. I know who I want to be/what I want by 35, and that is my “North Star”. I work backwards and ask myself, what is someone who is being/who has ______ be like/do? I think having a plan, yet also allowing flexibility for life is important. My NorthStar is what shapes all my actions, each day of my life.

HiChloe,

This is a great topic post! That is awesome that you are up to big things and doing so much with your life now! :)

I bet that my younger self would be very proud and in awe at me today. I own my own business, I am getting my B.A. in Psychology, I am in a phenomenal leadership program, and I have a great social life. I am out to make a difference for other people and life a big life.

In middle school and high school, I wanted to be the fun, social, party college student and have lots of friends. I for sure find that my connections, interactions, and life is much more engaging, authentic, and fun than being a party person.

Cheers!
