Forum: Will electric cars ever fully replace gas cars?
Hi Java,

All the concerns we have now about electric cars not being fully environmentally-friendly will be resolved within the next 20 years. Technology is transforming rapidly and soon it will be common place for everyone to have solar panels in their blinds and on their rooftops. With that said, we will be able to harvest solar, wind, hydro, and natural gas much more efficiently and so we will have no need for oil companies. The major reason why this type of technology is not advancing as rapidly as it could and being mass distributed for the greater good (humanity) is because oil companies would run out of business and they have been in business for a very long time. They will not tiptoe out of the global economy.

Forum: Does your phone sleep with you?
Hi Erin,

I keep my phone on airplane mode when I go to sleep. I also try to keep it at least a few feet away for me so that when I hear my alarm, it is more effort to turn it off. I use both my phone and my traditional alarm clock in the morning, and somehow it still doesn’t work! Maybe I will try putting my phone across the room.

Forum: Landline phone service
Hi Muka,

Like Frh, I used to talk to my friends via landline. My parents still have a landline and my mom uses it regularly because she works from home. I still use it occasionally when I am home.

In the future, if I can use my cellphone number or connect them somehow, I will have a landline.

Forum: Net Neutrality
Hi Kevin,

I am glad that net neutrality was restored because I do not think that powerful corporations should get even more power than they already have. It would have been really sad if everyday people like us had to pay even more money to watch shows, run a small business, and do other mundane internet browsing. All in all, corporations already control our media and influence us heavily, adding the internet, which is half our lives, would make them even more powerful. Personally, that is not what I want.

Forum: Do you pay extra for warranties?
Hi Bella,

I really should buy the warranty n electronics. I knoww homework sketchy it can bee to not have “insurance” forellectronics. I recently bought an iPPad. and I am concerned for my iPad’s safety,,even with a case. I will probably guy a screen cover. so it is more protected.

Forum: At what age should a child get a phone?
Hi Kendall, I think children should get a phone in middle school. So that means between 6th grade - 8th grade. I got my first phone in 7th grade because middle school in my school district is only 7th - 8th grade. My first phone was a flip phone!

During elementary school, children should focus on building organic friendships and spending time with other children around them. For safety concerns, I would want my child to have a phone because I know that is when they would start going out with friends.

Subject: Re: Ergonomic Devices?

Forum: Ergonomic Devices?
Hi Tera,

This is the importance of industrial designers. They design and create projects that are pretty and better user experience. For your screen, there are platforms you can buy for your laptop so that it rests on your lap easier or is raised at a certain angle on your desk. I think if it was built into the laptop, it would make the laptop more bulky, lol.

I love my MacBook Pro the way it is because the key feedback is perfect (not too much, not too little), the screen is fantastic, there is lots of storage, and the UX and UI of the laptop is really nice. It is very ergonomic and the processing speed is pretty fast (though now the laptop is 3.5 years old).

What would be really nice is a desk and chair that raises and lowers so that I can have the option of a standing or sitting desk, or a sitting desk that is really high up (which would be a plus because my room faces the mountains).

Subject: Which Electronic Device Do You Prefer?

Forum: Which Electronic Device Do You Prefer?
Which electronic do you prefer:
For school?
For entertainment?
For work?

Why?

I recently bought an iPad for school because I commute from off-campus and Marshall there’s always hurts from carrying my MacBook Pro around. Laptops are very heavy and not bungee chair around. I love the iPad because I can complete just about all of the tasks I need to complete for school on my iPad.

I just found the limitations of the iPad because I was trying to do some stuff for photo editing and it did not work on the iPad. It was really slow and did not have all the functions that my laptop has. Also, I was trying to edit the website and obviously that did not work. I am going to school because they have some computers there that I can use.

I am still very happy with my iPad purchase, however, I just need to plan out my day is better and make sure I have everything necessary for work that day.

Forum: Self driven cars
Hi Jessica,

I would feel comfortable in a self-driven car once it is refined enough. As of now, I do not feel comfortable in a self-driven cars because there is not good enough technology for it. I would be worried about people hacking the database! Plus, there is the factor of less control over our lives.

At the same time, I would feel better that road-raging drivers would not be behind the wheel.

Forum: Artificial Intelligence--will it destory us?!
Hi Juliana Carbonaro,

I do not think AI will overtake humans either. I think they are fantastic because when they take over boring and laborious jobs, then people can start pursing what is important to them and what makes them alive. When AI takes over the human labor market, then the world can redefine what it means to be a human being.

Humanity will not need to work 40 hours a week and we will have the choice for freedom and expansion of the human mind and capabilities.

Cheers!
