Forum: Posting on social media?
Hi Matt,

I actually do not like being on social media very often. Ideally, I would be on social media only 20 minutes a week total. This does not include Facebook Messenger and texting. However, I own a business and it is important to post everyday. I post once a day and do photoshoots at least once every other week. I use this app called "Later" to help me with posting regularly and keep on track. It saves a lot of time! :D

Now, looking at how the business Instagram looks, I am proud of it and see it almost as an ongoing art project. It is really fun to see everything come together, gain followers and people to look at it, and take photos! :D

As for my personal social media, I deleted Snapchat and only have Instagram and Facebook. I check Facebook every other day for about 5 minutes and rarely check my personal Instagram.

Cheers!

Forum: Renewable energy?
Hi Sarah,

This is such a great topic! It is very thought-provoking and relevant. I am totally with you 100% about renewable energy sources. I believe solar energy is one of our best sources for energy. In the near future, I believe we will have another "enlightenment" where something totally revolutionary happens. A total breakthrough in boundaries and humanity. I believe this shift will transform what it means to be a human being.

We already have seen transformation (new breakthroughs always comes with breakdowns and problems, this is just how we grow), through industrialization, then scientific advancement, then the Internet, and next will be Crystal technology (or something like it). New transformations and breakthroughs for humanity will closer and closer together.

This Crystal technology will shift away from industrialized and metal technology/parts and mimic plants in a very efficient and miraculous way. Future energy resources will be able to mimic an ecosystem. Instead of most solar energy going to waste, we will be able to harvest and store enough to power every major city in the world for a week if something happens. We will also be able to fund space expeditions because of this revolutionary technology.

Energy will be free and homes will be powered. No one will have to choose between the electricity bill and their groceries.

Cheers!

When was the last time you lost your phone?
How did you find it?

---------------------------------------------------------------

I lost my phone yesterday when I was out and about. My phone was on airplane mode because I did not want to use it during lecture. Now, I am unable to use "Find My iPhone" because my phone is "offline". Hopefully I can find it. I vote on CNet on my phone as well, so I might have to drop out of CNet this week. :(

I will not let this ruin my day. I will still have a fantastic, wonderful day! :)

Hi Riley Grant O'Brien,

I have a lecture of almost 200 people, so our professor has the last three rows for people with laptops (or any tablet that is upright). This is because it is distracting when people are on social media sites during lecture. I would take notes on a laptop like this if this weren't the case. However, I like to sit right at the front of the lecture, so I take half notes during lecture and then watch the Panopto recordings of the lecture later on and re-do my notes. I watch the lecture at 1.5x speed or 1.75x speed and this helps me reabsorb the information.

Forum: How patient are you?

Hi bluesapphire7,

I am patient with some cases, while I can be very impatient with other certain activities.

I am fairly patient with artistic endeavors. I have learned quite a bit with patience in that arena. I used to draw quite a bit and breathe and take a step back whenever I felt impatient. Art always turns out well when I take the time to make each detail stroke as if it were my first stroke on the paper.

I tend to lose patience with technology very quickly. For example, my phone is very broken because it has multiple cracks in it and a small portion (1cm) has been completely chipped off. It is very slow and even though I have 3bg of extra space, it often takes 9 seconds to open up Facebook Messenger and up to 12 seconds to open up the camera (which the front facing camera has a crack there). That seems like I am very impatient, yet it is very frustrating when I am just going on my day-to-day business because I disagree staring at my phone. Fortunately, having a slightly broken phone keeps me from going on my phone as often anymore!

Cheers!

Hi bluesapphire7,

I do not look at my hand while I am typing. I find I can type just as well either way, so I always end up not looking at the keyboard. On average, I can type 88 words per minute. I think this is a little bit above average, so that’s cool.

Typing is like second nature to me. I learn properly and second and third grade on old-fashioned Mac computers and vaguely remember the program game that they use. I didn’t take it seriously.

I typed more as I entered seventh grade and that’s when I really learned how to type fast because Gmail chat was how everyone talk to each other.

Forum: Do you like taking online classes?
Hi chikzilla,

I like taking online classes because then I am able to work where and when I want. Being a fairly punctual person, I do not have too much troubles with deadlines and find that I work more efficiently when I get to choose where and when I work. The luxury of working in a coffee shop is very useful to me because that is where I work best. I don't know why, but I think it is because I associate being at a coffee shop with working, so I end up being quite diligent and focused during a five hour coffee shop session.

On the other hand, because online classes are generally easier, I find it more difficult to take the class seriously and remember the material long-term. Also, the lack of face-to-face connection makes the class less interesting. The struggle is real towards the end of the quarter because that is when the daily grid becomes very dry and boring.

When I take an online class, I make an effort to visit the professor at least once, if not twice during the quarter. That helps keep my motivation up because then I think of how awesome the professor is and that she/he/they made the curriculum for the students. That is very motivating in itself because I do not like disappointing people. Also, I know professors love it when students take the initiative to do so and I love meeting new people and learning what the professor's intentions and outcomes for the class may be.

Hi EmmaJoy98,

I love using Google Calendar! On the desktop or laptop, it is really easy to switch from day to week to month view buy pressing d for day, w for week, and m for month. I love the different colors and access to my friends' calendars if they allow it. Also, I really like how Goolge Calendar has an app that is very user friendly and I can switch between my phone and my laptop easily.

I also recently started implementing this beautiful planner that I got for Christmas for my daily things. It has beautiful artwork and poems done by women.

Cheers!

Forum: How often do you check your phone?
Hi Riley Grant O'Brien,

I will have to try that app out, that's a great idea! I know that when I am at home, my phone use is way too much. I use my phone a lot for music, podcasts, and calling when I am out and about because my commute to and from school is a long time. Also, I do CollegeNet on the bus, so that is another 20 minutes or so staring at my phone and waiting for things to load.

How I regulate my phone use is by turning my phone on Airplane mode. I love it because I trick myself into thinking I have my phone on, yet in actuality I cannot receive or send out any texts or calls. Also, I do not have Snapchat on my phone, I do not go on Facebook for more than 10 minutes a day (usually less), and I am only on Instagram to post/follow people for my business.

On average, I am on the phone for 1-2 hours a day connecting with friends through calling them. I sometimes do other small tasks while on the phone, so I am not always multitasking while calling with my phone. It is important to me to stay connected to everyone.

All in all, my phone use is high because of podcasts and calling while I am commuting each day. I would average about 3 hours per day. My social media use is probably 1 hour per day. Lastly, miscellaneous tasks like texting, Facebook Messenger, reading random articles, etc. comes to about 30 hour per day. I use my phone for about 4.5 hours each day. Though part of that is not actively on my phone because of calls and podcasts.

Cheers!

Forum: Can You Be Without Internet For a week?

Hi Unique_girl17,

I could live without Internet for a week if I did not have school. I have an online class currently, so it is important that I have Internet access. Also, I am starting a business that will using social media platforms for marketing. If I was able to hand off those online duties to someone else for a week, I could go without Internet.

I have gone 3-4 days without Internet before and if I keep myself busy and engaged in the activities right in front of me, I will be fine without it. Also, when I hang out with friends or my boyfriend, I do my best not to touch my phone. In fact, unless I am trying to create plans with other people, I put my phone completely out of sight when I can. I like to be present with people.

Cheers!
