Forum: Do you fall asleep quickly?
Hi Everyone!

Do you fall asleep right away after you get into bed? Do you lay awake for hours thinking about all the things you have to do the next day?

I take a really long time to fall asleep. I have tried several things such as putting my cellphone away and hour before I plan to go to bed. I make a list of all the things I need to do the next day hoping that will keep me from worrying about them. I have even tried going to bed a little earlier so I don't get a 'second wind'. I have also tried not napping during the day but nothing works!

I can fall asleep relatively quickly for a nap, but in the evening, it just doesn't happen! My mom and my brother fall asleep the second their head is on their pillow! My dad and I laugh at them all the time. When they are done for the day they are really done! There is no keeping them up! LOL

Do you fall asleep easily or do you lay there struggling to sleep?

Have a great day everyone!

Thanks for reading!

Hi Kyle!

Yes!!!!! I absolutely would have someone clean my house for me! When I was little my mom had people clean the house a few times because she worked full time. It smelled so good and it put her in a really good mood! I would love to do that if I had the extra money. I am not a fan of cleaning! LOL I don't mind laundry and cooking but cleaning takes so long. When I help my mom now, I usually schedule a nap for when I am done! LOL I like the way it looks and smells when we are finished but it is so time consuming! There are so many things I want to be doing!! I will definitely make it a part of my budget at least a couple of times a month when I get a real job!

Have a great day!

Hi!

We argue about this all the time at home! My mom won't turn up the heat. We have electric heat so it is really expensive! She says layer up! I have to admit I often walk around in t shirts complaining that I am cold! LOL If I can sit under a blanket and read I am fine. If I need to be moving around I just grab a hoodie. Sometimes I will turn up the heat a degree if nobody else is home.

Have a great day!
Thanks for the post!

Hi!

I think kids should know that you trust them to make good choices, but they need guidance. You are there to help them with decisions so it is about communication. I was always honest with my parents about where I was and what I was doing. I was a good kid but there were things I was afraid to tell my parents, like getting lost downtown with a dead cell phone when I first started driving. I didn't have my GPS so I got on the highway going the wrong direction. My phone was dead so I couldn't call to ask where to go and I had to stop in a dangerous area to get directions. I knew my mom would go off on me for not having a phone charger in my car like she told me to but I told her anyway. We had established good communication long before that and although I didn't always like her initial reaction, we never got punished for things. We usually just had a long talk about what we should do differently next time.

My parents were strict but they didn't make arbitrary decisions. Their rules were fair most of the time and even if we didn't like them, we always knew what to expect. They were consistent. I think that is really important.

Have a great day!

Hi!

I think it is ok for kids to have healthy things to choose from for snacks and lunches. I also think it is important for them to understand that there are times that they don't get choices but still need to eat what is on their plate. I agree with Raeanna that you shouldn't cook a separate meal but perhaps choose things that you know they will eat when you are at home. When they are at someone else's house they should try the food that is on their plate. I do think kids should eat more than nuggets and fries. I also agree with those that said if you don't have it in the house they can't eat it. Fruits and vegetables actually taste better if you don't eat a ton of sugar and processed foods!

I also think it is ok to choose your battles with children. You can't fight them on everything, but health is important and food is a large part of that!

Have a great day!

Subject: Do you eat the same dinners all the time?

Forum: Do you eat the same dinners all the time?
Hi Everyone!

I was just finishing up dinner and wondering if everyone tends to eat the same foods all the time. When we go shopping, we generally buy the same food every week so we end up making the same dinners over and over. Sometimes when the season changes we change it up. For example, we grill out a lot more in the summer so we buy foods that work on the grill. In the winter we eat a lot more things that we can make in the crock pot. However, those are the only times we really change what we are doing.

What does your family do? Do you eat the same foods over and over? Do you like eating the same things all the time or is it just easy? Do you try to make different meals all the time? Do you search for new things or try new things you hear about online or on TV?

Thanks!

Hi!

This might be strange but I almost never remember my dreams! I went through a phase where I was remembering some of them once in a while, but recently I don't remember dreaming at all! That might go along with the fact that when I wake up I don't feel like I have slept at all either! LOL

Have a great day!

Hi Becky!

LOLOLOLOL That is awesome! I always tease my mom because she has over 10,000! She sat for two days straight a couple of years ago and cleared them out. She only had 9000 at the time!

I laugh because I will be right there with you someday! I never clear mine after I read them. Mine is only at 2000 right now but that is because it is a relatively new email for me! I don't even know how to begin clearing that many emails! It is nice to know my mom and I are not alone! Honestly, there are many more important things in life that need my time and attention.

Have a great day!

Hi!

I like the creamy peanut butter! The crunchy is usually thicker than I want it to be.
I usually eat it on a bagel or a bun.

Have a great day!

Forum: Texting and driving: what do you think?
Hi Maggie!

I am so sorry to hear about what happened to your husband! I hope he has completely recovered from his injuries. I do not text and drive. I will admit that I will answer my phone but I can do that with a button on my steering wheel.

My mom and I will walk down the road, but she never let us bike on the road because of all the people that don't watch where they are going. When we were walking the other night, we practically jumped into the ditch when a car didn't move over right away. We just weren't sure if they saw us. They did eventually move over at the last second but it is so hard to tell if people are really paying attention to what they are doing!

Biking is a great hobby/sport and it is a shame that people have to worry about careless drivers when they are out enjoying themselves! There have been several bike/car accidents in the new recently. They really need to make the laws tougher for people who are caught texting while driving!

If I was in a car and my friend or family member started to look at a text I would say something like "do you want me to read that to you since you are driving?" I don't think I could say nothing only because it would make me too nervous watching them do it. I understand the situation you were in may have been difficult to say something. However, if they are your friend, they should know why you are especially sensitive about it. A gentle reminder shouldn't be offensive to them.

Great forum topic!

Have a nice day!
