Hello Nikeisha.

I once heard a person speaking to Greg Laurie. (Pastor) When she spoke she said as he was playing with his granddaughter, “Don’t ever hold on to something so tightly that you are afraid to lose it.”

I began to think a lot about the things that we have and what we may not want to lose.

After careful consideration, I came up with the following. The only thing that I believe that I cannot do without is the love and support of Jesus.

I live a blessed life and I know who is responsible. When you think of the many parables and passages that are spiritually based and you follow that path, you know what is important and what is not.

"Job", lost everything that he thought was valuable and learned a most important lesson about his faith and beliefs.

When you have the correct paradigms, you are always driving in the right lane.

Hello futureteacher1996.

This summer is bitter sweet for me as it is my last summer (in-between the Junior and Senior Year) before I must go off to college.

I will start college in the summer prior to the fall semester of 2017.

While I plan to take some time off, as I am double majoring with an additional minor, I must begin early.

Sometimes we must sacrifice in order to stay on the path of success.

I believe that the time that I plan to spend starting early will yield huge benefits in the upcoming years.

Thanks for your time……Catti

Hello Gleb. I am a woodwind specialist, violinist, and vocalist.

My musical career began at the age of three.

I guess you can already figure out that my parents are also musicians.

My dad is a professional musician and professional music educator.

I love all aspects of music and hope to share my talents and desires with my children one day.

At the very least, I want to be able to share the music culture in the way of concerts and other venues.

Hello Miamichelle. Presently, I watch many shows with my dad.

One of our favorite series is Law and Order.

There is LAO, LAO criminal intent, and LAO Special Victims Unit.

The other two show that I would recommend are The Game of Thrones, Rogue.

If you like adversity, intrigue, social class struggles, the Game of Thrones is your show.

If you like suspense, twists and turns, and disinformation strategy,

Rogue is just the ticket. Let me know how it turns out. Thanks for your time….Catti

My dad often talks about how things were when he was young.

He talks freely and proudly about how you could hitch a ride from California to New York and back again.

These days, people are cautious about giving rides to hitch hikers, and even more cautious about getting into a car with strangers.

My question is about the world we live in today.

What happened to the society where you could trust others with your safety, and have we spent so much time basking in our age of technology that we no longer have a connection with people?

What say you? Thanks for your time…..Catti.

Hello kristinuteee. For years now people have smoked. Who knows exactly when they began or what was the premise on which they developed the habit.

What is clear is that something motivated them to try and continue the practice.

When you come right down to it, I don’t think that we need to look any farther than the parents or influential social group to identify the qualifying factors.

First and foremost, our parents/care providers are our number one resource for many things.

It may not be that they smoked themselves, but maybe they were absent in representing more appropriate alternatives.

Today for example, we have advertisements on billboards, television, radio, and of course the movies and programming that kids are exposed to on a daily basis.

When you consider the actual time that parents spend with their children and the time their children spend with friends, societal influences and the media the odds are against each child that they would get a proper foundation.

I think this is why extracurricular activities in church, sports, and schools are so important.

The more time children spend with positive mentors, and positive significant others, the better their chances.

If S. Freud was correct for example, and we have an ID, EGO, and SUPER EGO, then it makes sense to focus on the values that children have as to increase the likelihood that they will become sound participants with solid perspectives.

I would like to thank all of you who responded to my post.

Let be me absolutely clear on one specific point. Nothing in life is easy. All you have to do is read the Bible for a bit and you will see how most of them have more difficult times that we do today.

My point is simply this! If I can talk to someone in the Lions Club in my home town and they can help me present my case for financial consideration to the committee, then it sounds like a good plan.

Second, if I can call up the college that I plan to attend and find out what scholarships they offer to participating students, then it sounds like a good plan.

Third, it I can read through the host of scholarship books for example and find out that as an African American female there are scholarships available to me based on my GPA and accomplishments, then it sounds like a good plan.

I will tell you personally that you must bring the goods. Your GPA, your community service, your extra-curricular activities and co-curricular activities, Student Body activities, leadership activities, and scholarly work across the country will place you in a position of reference.

I am a student athlete, scholar, mentor, person of note in the community for services, musician, vocalist, and student body representative. I began high school in the GATE program and presently as a junior, have 4 A.P. course with 3 honors courses.

I began playing basketball at the age of three and have participated in Club Basketball since the age of 6, endeavoring in varsity play all through middle school and all of my years in high school with plans of playing for the University of Hawaii Pacific.

I participate with Chevron in the STEM Program at CSUB, U.C.L.A for the National Leadership Forum on Medicine, The Future Doctors of American Forum in Washington D. C., two time Regional Honor Choir inductee, two time female vocalist of the year, and my college major are Bio Medical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, with a minor in Sports Medicine.

Please, Have no illusions, the process of getting others to support you in your endeavors is a competitive one and you must “bring it” so they can “feel it” so you can “get it done”.

Let me know how it turns out for you. Thanks for your time…….Catti

A message from Catti.

Hello kristinuteee. From as far back as I can remember people have be selling and trading.

Think for a moment at how individuals would trade for goods to stay alive and live productively.

This all began back in early times. Yard sales or garage sales are just a reflection of those times.

Moreover, many people participate in these sales not simply to sell items but also to get rid of things that they have been holding on to for years.

If you ask most people, they will tell you about the enormous amount of junk that they have accumulated over the years that they never knew that they had until they did some spring cleaning, had a yard sale, or had to move from one location to another.

My dad keeps a large amount of musical supplies in his storage space just to avoid having the items at home with us.

Yes, yard sales and garage sales are common, but they also provide an added opportunity for people in the community to get to know one another and to interact socially.

Hello aaba0. Years ago, we lived in a society based on agriculture. Since the industrial revolution things have changed.

With the onset of technology moving at the pace that it has over the last 75 years, it would be rational to think that it is important to be able to keep up as a student on a global level.

With that said, there are students in China and Japan that go to school Monday through Saturday 8 am to 5 pm. For other countries who are trying to be the best, any positive structure that teachers can offer to get us academically at a competitive level in this global economy, I think that it is a good idea.

When my parents went to school years ago, California and the country in general was ranked much higher with reference to education.

Presently, California according to the stats is ranked 50 out of 50 states.

And on another note, what kind of society do we have when a presidential candidate (Donald Trump) can speak so negatively about its population and people praise that individual as a public mouthpiece.

Obviously, something in the educational process is being missed.

Hello Candice G. When I read your post, I could not help but reflect on the many things that I do to get things done.

“We” are what many might call the facilitators.

We get things rolling, get things going, move others to capacity, and insure that things run smoothly.

In most cases, it is not that we want to be the one getting things done. But as Jesus might say, “Many are called. Few are chosen.”
