Forum: Thank you CollegeNet!
Hello everyone,

Yesterday, after about 11 months of participation at CollegeNet I finally became a graduate. I was motivated and determined to reach this goal which will help to pay for college tuition and make my life easier.

I would like to thank CollegeNet for this opportunity, and most importantly, to all the candidates and participants, because I have learnt so much from all of you by reading your forums and learning about American life and culture.

Stay motivated and consistent and you will become a graduate in no time!

Thank you again for everyone, as I will continue to log in sometimes and still vote for you.

Good luck to everyone!

Forum: Do you like long drives?
Hi,

I like long drives if I am going with good friends and fun company to be around. In that case, we would have great and meaningful conversations, play the games in the car, listen and sing the songs and make each other laugh. If you go with right people, the long drive will not seem as long anymore.

If I traveled alone, it would be different, I once rode a bus from Germany to Lithuania which was 14 hours. I was so bored and my legs were hurting, I didn’t know anybody and just couldn’t wait to get home faster.

None of that would've happened if I traveled with a good friend and we could find things to do while traveling. If you travel on a long road trip and you are bored, I would suggest putting some music on, bring some great books or just look outside at the nature and different sceneries.

Have a great day!

Forum: Kitchen Clean up
Hi,

I actually never used dishwasher in my life. I washed dishes only with hands. In my country we don’t have dishwashers at home, it’s not popular at home and probably very expensive to buy. I like washing dishes with hands and I do not consider ever using a dishwasher.

I believe that it’s unnecessary item and probably uses a lot of water. If I wash with hands, I am certain that the dishes will be clean. I am not sure how the dishwasher machine works and what kind of chemicals it used to clean the dishes. I like natural soaps and they clean as good.

I also heard that dishwashers break very easily. My friends are constantly complaining that they dishwashers doesn't work. It's not a problem if you wash it with hands, and I'm sure that it's saves money too.

Have a great day!

Hi,

To me - home is the place which is surrounded by the people that you love. This can be your family, significant other and dear friends that makes you feel great to be around. Location doesn’t matter to me that much. I could live in Europe, USA or anywhere else, but people around me matter the most. If I have great people around and share beautiful memories together, this is what I call - home.

If I lived in the most beautiful place in the world, which has spectacular landscape, but no family and people that I love, I would not like to be there, because my home is my family.

Have a great day!

Forum: Extrovert of Introvert?
Hi,

I am an introvert. Although I love talking to people sometimes, if I spent too much time around crowd that I don’t really know, it exhausts me so much. I don’t like going to parties or events with a lot of unfamiliar people. After such events, it takes a lot of time for me to recover. I become so tired after all that talking and being nervous so that I stay for the next few days on my own. I am a very reserved person and I would only open up to a few people.

I can’t be open with everyone I meet because I have been hurt before. I like having a few friends who makes me feel very comfortable to be around.

I wish that I could be somewhere in the middle between extrovert and introvert, which would open me up for more conversations and opportunities to make new friends, which is very difficult.

Have a great day!

Forum: Why did you choose your program of study?
Hi,

Since I was a teenager I met a lot of people who were doing business. I would talk to them often and got so inspired by them and decided to study business myself. I think that my major is very broad and I could work in many different organizations.

Every field requires some type of business skills. I don’t want to be limited only to one field, if I don’t succeed in one field, I would move to another and business degree would allow me to do that. I also enjoy learning about how companies work, how to start business, basic finances and what is going on in the world’s economy.

I am third year in college and still very enjoying studying it. Everyday I learn something new and it’s very exciting to learn from very knowledgeable people. Maybe one day in my life I will start a business myself - non profit organization that helps people and animals. I believe that choosing to study this field was one of the best decisions that I ever made.

Have a great day!

Forum: How did you get your name?
Hello everyone,

Do you have a story about your name? How and why your parents chose the name that you have today? Does it have a special meaning? Maybe your family named you after someone else in the family?

When it came to the name registration, my father was so excited when I was born, to the point where he forgot to put the name that my both parents originally chosen. He went to registration office and registered my name as Kristina by mistake, even though they originally planned to give me the name - Jurate.

What is the story about your name?

Have a great day!

Forum: personal qualities
Hi Cheyenne,

Happy New Year!

If I could get myself one quality without having to put any effort into it, it would be strength and the ability to deal well with stress. In the last few years, I have struggled with a lot of stress and anxiety, sometimes it would turn into panic attacks, which I could hardly control. My mind went completely negative, and I even felt sick from stress. I realized that I don’t have that strength that I used to have before. I am not able to cope with difficult situations and always get very stressed even over the smallest things.

I wish that I could learn how to relax, enjoy this life while being able to deal well with stressful situations, think positively and don’t think too much about past or the future. Gaining strength physically and spiritually would help to make my life more meaningful and happier.

Have a great day!

Forum: 10 more years to live OR 1 million dollars?
Hi,

I would choose 10 more years to live rather than 1 million dollars. I think that the time is precious and there is a lot that we can experience in our lives. For me all that matters is my family. I want them to be happy and healthy and I would like to share beautiful moments with them and other people that I love. I was never very motivated to do things only for money, I could easily live without 1 million dollars, but have 10 years of life and share it with amazing people around me.

Memories matter to me, rather than money. The time is the most expensive thing that we can’t buy. I don’t need a lot of money to be happy. I would like to keep myself healthy and happy and enjoy this world. If I could add 10 years into my life, this would be the best gift that I could ever receive!

Have a great day everyone!

Forum: Are you a visual learner?
Hi,

I am not a visual learner. For me listening is more important that seeing things. I would memorize things better if I listen rather than see. But, of course, the combination of seeing and listening would work the best for me. It is very important on who the speaker is, if I have a hard time understanding him or her, or maybe they are very boring, it would be difficult to memorize the speech, but I had a chance to enjoy a lot of great speeches from a lot of professors in my school, and learnt a lot from them - their tone of language, enthusiasm, the overall feeling of the environment makes the best learning experience for me. I could close my eyes, but feeling the passion and willingness to help the students would work even without visually seeing it.

I have done a test whether I am visual, auditory or kinesthetic. I scored the lowest on visual, and most on kinesthetic - which is feelings, and second is auditory - listening to sounds.

Have a great day!

Kristina
