Forum: The first election you could vote in?
Hey guys!

What was the first election you could vote in? Who were the candidates? If you want to, you can tell us who you voted for.

If you are too young to vote, what is the first election you will be able to vote in?

I was 19 and it was the first time I could vote in this past presidential election. Let's just say the person I voted for didn't win...

Thanks!

Hello!

The toughest decision I made today was whether to go for a run or a walk. I have a pretty badly herniated disc in my back. The L5 which is the lowest. It has given me a lot of sciatic nerve pain to the point where it was pretty unbearable to walk, especially while I was teaching last year.

I have recieved two cortisone shots which have greatly relieved the nerve pain. It is strange that my back has not healed itself already which I have had multiple doctors tell me may lead to surgery. However, I am trying to do anything not to get back surgery at 21 years old. I am in good health but now I do not know how far I can push my exercise. In the end, I decided to walk today. I have gone on two 1 mile runs this week and my nerve was irritating me. In fact, on my walk my foot was asleep for about half of it. That is because I have been sitting and not exercising enough. So, it is a struggle trying to figure out a balance.

Hello!

As a kid I was obsessed with Harry Potter and I read the whole series in 4th and 5th grade. Then, the last book came out when I was in 6th. I think it was cool for me because the movies were coming out just as I had read the books. So after I would read them, my dad and I would get them on DVD and watch them. It was so exciting for me!

When I was even younger I loved Junie B. Jones and Magic Tree House. I am about to teach 4th grade for my first year as a teacher. I interned in 4th grade last year and now the kids aren't as much into whole series. They of course love the book Wonder and the series all the boys love is DogMan which is a graphic novel/comic. The kids also like Diary of A Wimpy Kid.

Hello!

I believe mostly in science and I think the end of the world is coming whenever the next meteor the size of the one that killed the dinosaurs hits. It is bound to happen eventually and it is not the meteor itself that kills so many people, but it is the weather it causes. It could cause a huge tsunami that hits multiple continents if it hits the ocean. It could still cause one if it hits land because of an earthquake. It would cause the sunlight to be blocked by all the particles in the atmosphere and nothing will be able to grow.

This will be when the world ends and maybe evolution will have to start over but maybe humans will evolve into even smarter and stronger humans. Then, we will be just something they read about in history books.

Hello!

I definitely could not live without my cell phone either. Other than the fact that Instagram and Twitter draw you in and cause you to compare yourself to others in an unrealistic way, I use it for so much more than that! I am constantly caught up with news and I love laying in bed late at night or early in the morning reading news on my phone. I also am always curious about things and I am asking myself questions and then I remember I can just Google anything because the information is at the tip of my fingers!

Hello!

To e 100% honest, what scares me most is thinking about the potential WWIII and the world our kids could live in. I'm afraid of more mass shooting. As a teacher, it is something I feel obligated to think about becuase I do have to be prepared in any situation. I feel scared of a world that allows more of the evil to come out and overtake all the good things and people in the world.

Hello!

This is a funny story for me. I always get up right when my alarm goes off. Ever since I was in 4th grade and my mom told me she wouldn't get me and my sister bunk beds if we didn't get up for school. Literally ever since I got in the habit of doing it then, I have always done it. I just can't go back to sleep after an alarm goes off. It is crazy to me that so many people press the snooze button. I would be too afraid I would never wake up.

Hey!

If you couldn't use transportation like cars or trains, how would you get around? What kinds of transportation would you use?

I guess a bike would be the most efficient but I enjoy riding a nice scooter. :)

Hello!

I think it is so important for everyone to give their brain a break at least a few times a day! Being a 4th grade teacher, I give my students brain breaks all the time. If we have been sitting for a long period of time it is especially important to get that blood flowing to the brain. Sometimes we play a game, just read or draw, or watch a video.

Hello!

I am definitely the kind of person who leaves a suitcase for a while. I might throw everything in the wash, but then my clean clothes sit in a pile until I use most of them. I don't know why sometimes it just feels so pointless to put away my clothes.

In fact, I still have a backpack of stuff sitting here from the vacation I got back from Sunday! Thanks for the great question!
