I also love fortune cookies. I believe I received one that said something similar to, "you miss 100% of the shots you don't take." That's a quote by Gretzky!

I abide by that whenever making a decision/thinking of whether to apply to something (scholarship, study abroad, job, etc).

Hi there!

I am usually on phone and browsing through Instagram or Reddit. If I have my books or papers on me, then I will do homework.

Hope you have a nice day!

Hi Sammy,

How nice! A month ago, I met with a prospective researcher I wanted to work with. I kept on missing him in terms of meetings because he travelled often. During our first meeting, he gave me a turtle keychain from the Philippines even though we didn't even know each other yet.

I have a research paper due for my animal behavior course! I'm rushing to finishing it as I did my observations/research mid-week and I haven't started yet. Wish me luck!

Hey there! For those who use smartphones, which app takes up most of your time in a day?

I don't really play games so I am usually not occupied with them (besides PoGo at the moment)! I usually spend the most time on Gmail. It's useful to be able to access your email accounts away from your computer.

I also spend a great amount of time on Instagram. I manage social media accounts for my business, and Instagram probably takes up the most time. I usually post several photos a day, reply to comments, and respond to direct messages.

What about you?

I too prefer to study by myself. I don't see my friends that often because I live off-campus, but when we are together, we talk too much. We get too distracted on YouTube. I'm also not comfortable with studying with students I don't know. I usually stay by myself in a study room in the library or in the comfort of my room.

Being able to pay for my tuition by August 1st matters most to me right now. My deadline is that date and I'm scrambling to get money! I'm thinking of enrolling in a tuition payment plan so I can make smaller payments per month instead of paying the whole amount now.

Thanks for reading!

I too had one of those teen phases. I used to like dressing like a guy. I cut my hair in one of those Asian mullet hairstyles and wore baggy clothing from the menswear department. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but at that moment in time, I was trying to imitate my favorite K-Pop star.

I've been able to find my place in fashion and now I always wear dresses and skirts. I haven't worn pants in a very long time.

Hey Selina,

Do something that you enjoy and that you will not struggle too much with. I'm applying to med school next summer. I started out wanting to study Biochem, then I switched to Public Health. In my third year, I wanted to study Computer Science, which failed miserably. I couldn't discipline myself to balance my rigorous pre-med courses with my CS courses. Now in my fourth year, I am graduating as a Public Health & Human Biology student and trying to bring my GPA up as soon as possible!

Forum: What are your favorite books?
I haven’t read for pleasure in many years because all I usually read are research journals and science textbooks. These are my favorite works:

1. The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien

2. The Lord of the Rings (The Two Towers) by J. R. R. Tolkien

3. Elsewhere by Gabrielle Zevin

4. The Divine Comedy (Inferno) by Dante Alighieri

5. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by J. K. Rowling

6. White Fang by Jack London

7. The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald

8. The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams

9. Macbeth by William Shakespeare

Not all of them are books, as some are poems and plays! What are your favorites?
