Forum: How do you comfort yourself on a cold day?
Hello,
Today here was a cold one! And it has been snowing on and off all day and has left me chilled to the bone! As soon as I stepped outside I couldn't wait to get home, put on my flannel jammies and heat a big bowl of soup and cuddle under the blanket! Infact, I have been dreaming of this every day this winter! I think its because when I was growing up this is what we would do everyday after school when it was cold!

My question for you today would be what do you do to comfort yourself on a cold day and why? Does it stem back to childhood or is it just something you have learned over the years to comfort yourself on your own?

Can't wait to hear your replies! Stay warm all!

I have two major trips planned this year!

First I am going to Europe. Amsterdam and France. I can not wait to explore!

After Europe I return home to Idaho for a few months and then headed to NYC!

I feel so blessed and think this year is going to be the best one yet!!

Are you going anywhere? Any trips planned?

Subject: Re: Studying for Boards

Forum: Studying for Boards
I took the NCLEX in 2006! I studied every single day for a few hours each. I took my practice boards multiple times and tried really hard to brush up on the weak areas I felt clueless on. By the time it came time to take the boards I was nervous and was sure I failed miserably. I was the first one done and only got 75 questions and I was so upset I cried for hours after!

Finally after 48 hours you could pay to get the results early and I had passed. I was relieved, overjoyed and stunned!

You can do this. Just make time to study everyday at a time when you can focus and learn. Make sure its in a quiet spot and your belly is full.

Once its done, you will be so proud of yourself.

And i'm proud of you too!

Famu,
Me too! I definitely relate with happy! I prefer being happy to anything else and it tends to be my natural mood!

I love to smile, be kind and goofy!

Seems like we have a lot in common!

Hope you have an awesome evening and even better day tomorrow! Hugs!

Katheryn,
Thanks for your response. My oldest daughter is an angry crier and she will bottle it all up until she cries and like you once she starts, she can't stop. She is learning to cope as well, with healthier coping mechanisms such as talking about what upsets her sooner, or taking a break. I think its great that you have found healthier was to deal too! Im not too stressed, its just normal everyday life things, but thank you for the words of encouragement! They really help!

Wames,
Stress can reek havoc on our moods! Perhaps your mom's way of coping is similar to mine. When in stressful situations our overflow valve kicks in so we don't bog ourselves down with too much weight! I wouldn't worry about it with her, but perhaps when you are not stressed you should apologize to her and ask her what it was about your conversation that made her cry. Maybe it can offer some valuable insight about yourself that you may not even realize is happening! Thanks so very much for the thoughtful reply, I really appreciate it!

Hey all,
When I am stressed out I tend to cry! I feel like God gave me tears as an "overflow" button to relieve pressure when I get too overwhelmed! And its really funny because even if its good stess, I can't help but being a crier!

Once I have a cry, then I am ready to face the World again and I actually feel like because I can cry so easily, that I can handle quite the stress load and tolerate it ok. To me, my go to behavior is beneficial.

What about you? What do you do when you are stressed? Is the go to behavior you have adapted helpful to you? Or prehaps you feel like perhaps your coping mechanism is not effective and its actually harmful rather than helpful. If so what could you do to change to be more gentle with yourself, and to help you get through the day?

Hope all is well my lovely loves and I hope you have all had a fantastic day. If you didn't, i'm air hugging you right now!

Marie =)

Subject: Re: Purpose vs Happiness?

Forum: Purpose vs Happiness?
Hello,
What an interesting topic.

Do you believe finding a purpose outweighs searching for happiness? Do you believe they're one in the same? Are they 2 separate paths to take? What are your thoughts?

I believe they are one in the same. I think sometimes we are misguided in what our purpose is, so we float aimlessly until we land softly into happiness when we find our purpose.

I also believe that you can have more than one purpose in life and you can find happiness in all of them. For example I am a wife, I am a mother and I am a Nurse. All of these things give me purpose. These things are the reason I live and breathe and if I lost any of it, I would not be as happy, actually I feel like I would be really sad.

Thanks for the thought provoking question!

Forum: How often do you read?
Hey John,
I remember reading as a child as a way to get away from unpleasant things, a way to entertain myself when I was bored or lonely and just for the fun of it. It was a big part of my childhood, that has carried onto my adulthood. Although I don't read as much as I did as a child, I still read every single day and now I read ebooks as much as a read an actual book.

I do feel sad for those that miss out of the joy of reading. It really takes your mind somewhere that t.v. and social media can not.

Great question. Have a lovely evening a great day tomorrow!

I totally feel ya on this one. I recently finished the show catastrophe on Amazon prime and binge watched it HARD until it was over. I sort of feel empty inside now that I finished it. LOL .

Also we have been watching Silicon Valley and Workaholics. I also really love scrubs and Malcom in the middle, mostly because they are both funny and have lots of seasons to get through!

Fun post!
