Forum: The Horizon of A Fresh Start
And He that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And He said unto me, Write: for these words and true and faithful.” Revelation 21:5

Think about this: you are about to finish another year and step into a new one. By your estimation, it may have been a great year or it may have been one full of challenges and one that you would like to forget. Regardless of where you fit, you are on the horizon of a fresh start. There are new things in store: new victories, new challenges, new things to master, new things to experience and new glories to bring to God. I realize that our Scripture for today speaks of the New Heaven and the New Earth. However, in principle we must realize that we serve a Father Who desires freshness for His children (kainos, the Greek word used for new means fresh). We are the new creation. His mercies are new every morning. We are to put on the new man. We have been given a new commandment, so on and so forth. Glean from the past and learn from it, but afterward fix your meditation on what is ahead-on the horizon-for the Father has so many new things for us to look forward to. Anticipate the goodness of God in this year that is on the horizon. Hallelujah!!!!!

“But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.” Acts 20:24

“None of these things move me.” What a testimony! As a matter of fact, it is the testimony that the Father wants every one of His children to have. He desires that our lives be so vitally in union with Him that no matter what happens, yes that’s right, no matter what happens in this natural realm, none of those things can cause us to be shaken or lose our focus on eternal things. Our fellowship with the Father based on the finished work of Christ is the key to this kind of life and testimony. When a life is wrapped up in the Father in this manner, eternal things become more real than anything in the natural realm. As a result, one finds out his or her God-given purpose for living and how to walk in that purpose and finish it with joy. When a man or woman in Christ makes this kind of living connection with the Father, there is absolutely nothing that satan can do with that Believer. You see my brothers and sisters satan does all that he can to manipulate the circumstances in this natural realm. It is his “trump card.” Whenever he wants to throw a Christian off course, he begins to stir up natural physical disturbances. It is a key to his operation against you, because he knows in most cases, Believer’s are going to be moved by the things that affect their senses. So, if you can ever arrive at that point in your fellowship with the Father that the things of the kingdom mean more to you than the things of this natural realm, satan will have no means of being able to manipulate you. It may not seem easy or even logical to most people to pursue this, but it is God’s challenge to us.

Forum: Trust In The Lord, Not Man
Thus saith the Lord; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the Lord. For he shall be like the heat in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh; but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land and not inhabited. Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is. For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.” Jeremiah 17:5-8

Trusting in man instead of the Lord is an exercise in futility. Not only that, it is displeasing to the Lord and opens one up to cursing and disappointment. You may face some situations in which it seems as though God’s help is too slow and it seems better to trust in man or the arm of the flesh. Don’t be deceived; keep your trust in the Lord and do it from the heart.

Forum: Don’t Let Your Love Grow Cold
“And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.” Matthew 24:12

The Scripture teaches us that there will be an abundance of wickedness in the last days. During this time a Believer will have to be on his guard against allowing his love to grow cold. This is very subtle. It can be compared to erosion. Over a period of time, because of periodical run off of water on the land, the soil in a particular place is just not what it once was. Some of it is gone. One day, one looks at the land and wonders what happened to it. It seems as if it just disappeared. However, it had been happening for a long time. Over the course of time if a Believer doesn’t watch out, he can, by seeing constant sin and lawlessness, have his love grow cold. When sin abounds and many let go of righteous standards and the Believer watches these actions of others (especially if he sees a lot of it in the church) instead of the Word, He can begin to become cold and indifferent regarding his own love walk. The key to keeping this from happening is to keep one’s eyes on the Word and maintain commitment to the Word, regardless of what anyone else is doing. Keep practicing loving others. Continue to practice forgiveness. Keep the flow of giving constant. Abound in well-doing and purpose not to grow weary. Committing to these things will keep your love from growing cold
