Do you VOTE for the same people each week?

    Heyo CNET,

Do you vote for the same people each week ?

Is it fair to other if you vote for the same people?

Each week I try not to vote for the same people methodically. I vote for people who comment on my post. So the first two people on my forum get my vote. I do not care who it is or how long they have been around . I try to keep it random giving everyone a chance. I think it is unfair the same person gets all the votes. We should spread the love give everyone a fighting chance.

    What about you ?

Re: Do you VOTE for the same people each week?

    Hi Julia,

I think that I do end up voting for the same people, but it is not a conscious decision. I like to vote for people who are active and who give good responses or forums. My definition of good is a post that has some depth and thought to it. While I have posted some really shallow stuff and it is definitely easy to respond to, I enjoy posts that have more meaning to them. It tends to be active people who post stuff like that the most so they end up getting my vote. I don't have a list that I cycle through or anything like that. It is just who is posting good content that day.

    Hey Julia!

There's overlap week to week, but it's never on purpose! I typically just vote for those who comment on my posts or make a really good point!

    Have a good one!

    Hi!

Interesting post! This is my first week so I don't have a pattern yet. I was just wondering how I would do that each week. So far, I find myself voting for the first couple of interesting posts that I find when I sign in each day. There are a lot of good posts. Some of the ones I like are very thoughtful and some are posts that make me think about something new or remember something I haven't thought about for a while.

Have a great week and good luck!

@Ratio , I respect your choice. I just think it should be conscience. Since this is a reoccuring scholarship. It is easy for those on top to over shadow others as some have more experience with topics.

@Anna , what is good content in your opinion ? Overall , does determination outshine the content produced l.

    Great comments

@Katelyn , welcome to cnet. Hope you find your groove soon. It is good you vote with ease. As you want to give others the samw chnace as you want. Since as a newbie ypu do not want to be overlooked. It takes a lot of effort to post each day. Thus , a post to me is worth a vote.

    Thanks for your comment!

    Hey,

No I don’t vote for the same people every week. I like to vote for different people every single time. I vote for the people who comment on my post. I usually read each response and pick which two I like the most.

Re: Do you VOTE for the same people each week?

    Hey Julia,

I know there probably are a few I am voting for every week but I either vote for someone who creates a forum I really liked answering or someone who replied with a thoughtful response to a post of mine. When it comes to the forums, I do consider if it's a topic that I really haven't seen post lately or just one that makes me actually think of what to type out.

As for those commenting on mine, I don't instantly vote for the first unless it's the first one that is thoughtful. However I know I have created forums that don't require much thought.

But in the end I do find myself voting for a lot of the same people but I guess because a lot of the same people I see active on here daily. I will add I do try to pay attention to some newer people and what they are posting. I do see a few that are sticking it out and staying with cnet.

Re: Do you VOTE for the same people each week?

Not intentionally but there are just some people whose responses stand out to me because we have similar perspectives/sense of humor. And if they take the time to post on my forum I feel they deserve a proper thank-you.

I do try to find new people and give them a vote, hoping maybe they'll get the rookie scholarship.

Occasionally, if it's a well-crafted argument, I've even voted for people who's views are contrary to mine.

Re: Do you VOTE for the same people each week?

    Good morning, Julia!

I usually vote for new candidates, but ONLY if they have the following:
An organized profile, and a sophisticated, fairly cohesive description of themselves.
At least 1 or 2 high-quality, thoughtful posts.

I also vote for people who have not yet won a scholarship, but ONLY if they meet this criteria:
They have a profile picture, and a sophisticated, fairly cohesive description of themselves.
They have high-quality forums and posts. They must, on average, have a minimum of 7 sentences per post.
They must be very polite, (say "hello, xyz" or "good morning, xyz" and at the end of their response they must always wish the forum writer a good day.)

Of course, I do vote for those who have already won scholarships, if they meet this criteria:
    They're polite to other users.
They have attractive profiles. (A nice profile picture, a good description of themselves.)

    Thanks for the forum!
    Have a great day. :)

Re: Do you VOTE for the same people each week?

    Hi Julia,

I vote for whoever. I like to give newbies a chance, and those that are consistent, but might be struggling. I tend not to vote for the very top candidates, unless I really like their work and believe they should win $300 for school. I vote regardless of age, student loan amount, gender, profile picture, or location. I have no alliances with anyone, and wish the best for all of you, so I vote for who I think could use the money, and has well thought out thoughts. You can tell when we are lazy on here. Our posts get briefer, less organized, and shallow. I hope people don’t vote for me when I’m lazy, it only encourages me to do better next time around!

    Great post!
