At what age did you stop believing in Santa?

If you ever did believe in Santa.

    What made you stop believing?

I believed in Santa until I was in third grade. Children at school were talking about how Santa wasn't real. When I askedy mom about it, she told me the truth.

A special memory I have is that my dad would cut out black paper to look like boot prints and tape them to the ground to make it look like Santa crawled out of the fireplace and left boot prints. As a little kid I thought the boot prints were real. Do you have any special memories from holidays growing up?

    Hey there,

I think I was around 9 or 10 when I stopped believing in Santa. At that age my friends were saying that he wasn't real and my parents came clean...although I think it made them a little sad.

I love the memory you shared of your dad making footprints in the snow....so cool!!

One if my favorite memories was getting a letter from Santa each year.

Thanks for the forum and have a good one!!

    Hi Laura,

I love this forum!!! You have a great story. Your dad had some great ideas. I may have to adopt that one for when I have kids.

I stopped believing in Santa when I was in 2nd grade. My parents had bought a book about a kid questioning if the tooth fairy was real, and one night I read it. It wasn't a big leap to the Easter bunny, then to Santa. I was so sad to find out that they weren't real, but I was mad at myself for being duped into believing it.

One of the traditions we had when I was a kid is that our local library would show the "Polar Express" movie, then do some songs and make an ornament, then we made "reindeer food". We would take the food home and put it outside for the reindeer. My dad would then sprinkle some on the ground like the reindeer spilled some when they were eating, and throw the rest away. It was so fun to think that we fed the reindeer, and of course some milk and cookies for Santa. I really miss those days sometimes!

Thanks for the trip down memory lane!

    Hey!

I still believe in santa deep inside me. But i realized it wasn’t real when i was like 5. There is no story for it i just knew it wasn’t true. Everyone would dress up as santa at my house so i just knew it wasn’t real.

    Thanks
    Have a great day!

Re: At what age did you stop believing in Santa?

    Hey Laura!
Every year as a child we would put magic raindeer food on the balcony and the traditional milk and cookies out for Santa. Several years later, my heart was broken and I learned the truth about Santa. I was around the age 7 or 8 and was in the car with parents and my friend. Christmas time was right around the corner and I asked my friend what she thought Santa was going to bring her for Christmas that year. To which she replied, "you know Santa isn't real right"? I then looked at my parents in horror asking if this was true and they started laughing! I was so mad that they had not only lied to me my whole life but were also giggling at my reaction. This was also the day I realized that if Santa isn't real, than neither is the eater bunny or tooth fairy... what a terrible day to be a child then, thankfully it is a special memory now. I am still friends with this person too by the way! LOL

    Thank you for the forum!

Re: At what age did you stop believing in Santa?

    Hiyah,

I had my doubt since Santa never drank my coke or ate my cookies. What really sold it was when St. Nick didn't leave presents on the 5th even though I had my shoes out. I asked my mom about it in the morning and she was like "He left them in my laundry basket." I'm 8 not dumb. So I was that kid at school telling kids that Santa wasn't real. I even got yelled at by my teacher for it.

    Thanks

Re: At what age did you stop believing in Santa?

I think I was about in the fourth grade when I stopped, and it kind of sucked because the night before Christmas was so exciting that it was hard to get to sleep. I kept up the act for my sister though, as she is three years younger and didn't figure it out until she was at the age that I did. I have a lot of fond Christmas memories growing up, one of which we put out little chocolate donuts and we got to have some!

Re: At what age did you stop believing in Santa?

I stopped believing in Santa when I was in fourth grade. I am the oldest of three kids, so I didn't have an older sibling to convince me Santa did not exist. My next door neighbor, who has to older brothers, was the only that broke the unfortunate news. I asked her what she was asking for Christmas from Santa and she looked at me like I had four heads and said "You know 'Santa' is just our parents?!".

Re: At what age did you stop believing in Santa?

I stopped believing in Santa when I was in forth grade. My parents didn't have the money to by presents from 'Santa' so they told me the truth and I understood. I wasn't sad or anything, but they knew I would forgive them. My favorite memory is when I had seen snow for the first time and it felt like my world just got bigger.

I think I was 7 years old when I stopped believing in Santa. I actually caught my mom wrapping the presents and writing to ___ from Santa! lol
