    Do you smoke?

    Good Morning everyone!❤️
I have several questions here might be little too personal but I wanted to ask anyways.

    Do you smoke?
If yes, How many cigarettes do you smoke per day?
If No, is there anyone in your family that smokes and do you know how much they smoke?
Have you ever thought about quitting?
Have you tried to quit but couldn't?
    What made you start again?

I do Not smoke.Have never smoked & I will never smoke. I am very against smoking. I don't mean to judge anyone, but I am really concerned about others health so this is why I am so against it. Almost all men in my family smoke. I am about to lose my grandfather because he has stage 4 lung cancer due to years and years of smoking. Right now he is not doing well. First time he was diagnosed, he survived the cancer and they surgically removed part of his lung. Now he can't breath on his own and needs oxygen 24/7. I am posting this today because I feel that people don't take serious on how horrible smoking is. It has so many consequences in the future and the fun and happiness right now will lead to regret in the future. Seeing my grandfather in that condition kills me. All he tells me is he wishes he could go back and stop the day he started smoking.

I would really love to hear your opinion on this topic! I will reply tomorrow.

Thanks & have a great day!

    Re: Do you smoke?

    Hey Njbr

I do not smoke or any substance for that matter. I do not judge those who smoke; however, I hate when people smoke next to me. I hate the smell, and it effects my throat and lungs. Why should I have to suffer first hand because of someone else's unhealthy choice. There's always the environmental effects in the long run also, but I'm really concerned about second hand smoke at present.

Both my grandparents whom I spent a lot of time with smoked cigarettes. I think it's a nasty habit, and sometimes wonder what type of high they get from it. My grandad doesn't believe in smoking indoors. My granny didn't have that same idea.

    Re: Do you smoke?

Do you smoke? No, but I had on and off from age of 14 till I was 25

If yes, How many cigarettes do you smoke per day? I'll answer this anyway since I used to smoke,,I used to make a pack or two last me a week or two

If No, is there anyone in your family that smokes and do you know how much they smoke? Most everyone I knew smoked or smokes in my family. I'm not sure on habit.

Have you ever thought about quitting? I did successfully about 5 years ago because I never got addicted so much as did it out of habit

Have you tried to quit but couldn't? N/A

What made you start again? N/A

    Re: Do you smoke?

    Hello NjBr,

Yes I do smoke about 7 cigarettes a day I don't plan on quitting any time soon maybe down the line I will. Cigarettes are so expensive in Minnesota about $9.00 a pack but I get mine when I go to the casino in North Dakota $50.00 a carton of cigarettes. Can't go wrong there.

    Have a nice day!

No, I have never smoke and will never do it. I know for sure how harmful is the smoking for your body.

    Good day.

    Re: Do you smoke?

I am with you. I do not smoke at all. I lost both my grandparents on my mom's side lung cancer. They both smoked for over 50 years, and obviously had a detrimental effect on their health. My grandfather on my dad's side is also a heavy smoker. A couple years ago, he was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. Luckily, he is still fighting. My girlfriend is also a smoker. I have been trying to get her to quit.

Another reason why I do not smoke is an incident that caused me to be scarred for life. I was working at a movie theater when I was about 15. I was taking tickets, and this gentleman approached me.. He had a hole in his throat because of chronic smoking, and had one of those electronic voice boxes. As I was taking his ticket, he sneezed. All of his mucus, came out of his throat hole and spewed on to me. It was extremely disgusting. And incredibly awkward. Needless to say this was another deterrent to smoking.

    Re: Do you smoke?

I don't smoke often. I usually will have my guy friends over once a month where we smoke cigars and shoot the wind out around the fire pit.

I have tried a cigarette once and hated it. I don't know how people get addicted to those, they just stink.

Cigars don't seem as bad to me. For one, they tend to smell a heck of a lot better than cigarettes, plus they tend to last a lot longer than a cigarette.

I never feel the desire to smoke, I find it a fun vice to partake in once a month or so with friends.

    Re: Do you smoke?

    Hi everyone,

I do not smoke, the truth is I tried it couple of times but it didn't suit with me. I get these bad ass migraine any time I inhale the smoke in my lungs so I stop trying it. My dad died of smoking too much so I don't smoke. Have a wonderful day.

    Re: Do you smoke?

    Hello NjBr!

I don't smoke, but my husband does. I have been trying to get him to quit since we started getting serious while dating. He had quit for 3 years, and then started back up again before he met me. He, probably, smokes about half a pack a day or so. At one point I know he was smoking well over a pack a day. He has "tried" a few times over the past month and a half, but broke on day 3 every time. He started again today with trying to stop. It bothers me that he doesn't just stop, but I don't understand the addiction so I TRY not to get on him too much for it. That works about as well as his past few attempts at quitting...

    Re: Do you smoke?

    Hello Njbr,

I am sorry to hear about your grandfather, my uncle went through something similar and I wish no one else would have to go through that.

You'd think that knowing what cigarettes do would prevent anyone from smoking at all, but still a lot of people smoke. I am one of them. I started smoking a year and a half ago back when I was at my old job. It was a very stressful job that jacked up my anxiety. I have to smoke so I can calm down sometimes.

I smoke maybe a pack in 4 months. I have never finished one by myself. I am constantly asked for cigarrtes and I give them away because I know I won't finish the pack for a few months. If I could, I would just light up a joint instead, but that's not accepted at work or school; cigarrtes are. I'll quit when I can smoke marijuana in public instead.

    Re: Do you smoke?

I don't smoke now, but I did smoke many years ago when I was in college. I only smoked socially and I wasn't very social so thankfully it wasn't too difficult to stop.

When I was a kid my dad actually stopped smoking because more and more health practitioners were talking about the dangers of second-hand smoke. So that was pretty awesome! Unfortunately once all his kids were grown and had families of their own he picked up the habit again (in the form of cigars). He now smokes 5-6 of the smaller cigars per day and it really has a huge impact on his health. Recently, he went for about a month without smoking and it was amazing how much healthier he sounded - his coughing went away almost entirely and he was breathing better. Two months later I went to visit and he'd picked them back up again (due to stress) and the cough was back.

Does anyone know if there have been studies on whether it's more difficult to quit a second time if you've already quit once? Any tips for combatting stress smoking?

    Re: Do you smoke?

    Hello NjBr,

I do not smoke and I will never smoke. It has never appealed to me even though I have been exposed to it all my life. My family and my coworkers smoke all of the time. It really sucks that my family does it, but they don't seem to be affected by it even though some of them have been smoking for well over 30 years.

    Re: Do you smoke?

I quit smoking around 8 years ago. But, I still smoke occasionally. Although, I won't consider myself a smoker.

Quitting smoking was the hardest thing I ever did. Something I found helpful was reading about what changes occur in your body within hours of quitting.

Here is an article about the changes that occur. Some of them happen surprisingly fast.
