    Studying with or without music?

    Hey CNET!

Just curious, do you guys study with or without music? Depending on the subject for me, I usually listen to musics with lyrics if it's something I have to "do" like math or chemistry, whereas if I have to read something, then I usually listen to instrumentals.

    What about you guys?

Do you have any specific playlists? I'd love to find some new things to listen to! :)

    Thanks! - Kyle

    Hey Kyle,

Haha really good question! Lemme see, I don't usually listen to music when I'm studying but while doing math or coding I do. Mostly inspirational music by Coldplay or One Republic. I also love to listen to Eminem because it's a such a instant mood booster and helps me do my work faster and better.
    Thanks for asking!

Re: Studying with or without music?

    Hey Kyle,

I'm like you, there are certain subjects where I like listening to music to help me study. Math homework is usually one subject that I can listen to music with that I tend to do alright. When I have to read or anything like that, I try not to listen to music because I get really distracted. I can sometimes get away with music that doesn't have any lyrics to it, but sometimes that still distracts me. I love listening to music though so it's really hard for me to not listen to it when I study.

    Have a great day!

    Hey Kyle,

I love music, and it gets me going--but sometimes a little too much for studying. When I'm reading, I can't listen to anything, really, because even classical distracts me (I start playing air piano and stuff). But, like you said, when I'm doing something--writing, making a lesson plan, writing emails, or other random stuff, I love listening to upbeat music to motivate me. Lately I've been mostly listening to music in Spanish because I'm trying to learn Spanish (modern Spanish pop, mostly), and it always puts me in a happy mood. :)

Re: Studying with or without music?

I never, ever listen to music while doing school work. My daughter loves to. I used to try to get her to stop. It seems like you shouldn't be able to concentrate. But, apparently it works for some people. So, I've stopped lecturing her about it.

One summer at work, we were getting a new roof. I was on the top floor so I could hear the construction crew's music. It made me crazy. I could barely get anything done. I don't know why I find it so distracting.

Re: Studying with or without music?

I love to listen to music just about anytime especially when I'm doing homework because it drowns out the background noises for me.

The only time that I don't while doing homework is when I'm having to watch videos for what I'm studying that week.

Re: Studying with or without music?

    Hi,

I studying without any musics or noises because I get distracted easily.

    Good day,

Re: Studying with or without music?

    Hoangry,

If for whatever reason I am having a hard time focusing in the quiet, while studying I will turn on classical music. It really helps me to focus. No music with words just classical music.

    Thanks for your post!

Re: Studying with or without music?

    Hello HoangryKH,

I prefer listening to music while I study, any music really, it usually becomes background noise. Sometimes Iget distracted by the music, but I ca usually work through it.

    Thanks,
    Leland

Re: Studying with or without music?

I like listening to music while doing essays for my classes. I usually don't unless I'm stuck and need to focus on the work.

Re: Studying with or without music?

I either listen to music or have the TV on when studying. I need some kind of background noise

Re: Studying with or without music?

    Hi

My situation is actually quite similar to yours! While studying for any subject that does not require reading, I usually play music. I'll go for any type of pop or rock music. Even though I love rock, I sometimes have to change the music because I start headbanging and get distracted. But if I have to read a book or take notes, I'll have white noise playing to help me concentrate.

    Thanks,
    Maria
