    After Death plans

    Hey guys,

this is kind of a morbid topic. Sorry about that. But I find it interesting, what do you plan to do with your remains after your death? Do you want to be cremated, buried, or something else?

Me personally, I want to donate my body to science after I donate my organs. My life is been all about helping people, and I would love to help people even after my death. Are you an organ donor?

I do not plan on dying anytime soon, but I have thought about this. What about you? Do you have any plans for your remains after your death? Am I the only one he thinks about this morbid stuff? Haha.

I look forward to reading your responses.

    Hi there Joey.

Awww no need to apologize! I think this is something important we should all think about in our life. Life is short and you never know what may happen.
Personally, I would like my body to be buried in a casket just like all my deceased relatives have been.
I know it might be selfish of me to not want to give up my organs but I just would prefer to be buried with my loved ones. This is how I feel right now though, I'm sure I might change my mind later on in life.

I hope you have a wonderful day!

    Much love,
    Elisa

    Hey Joey!

I see nothing wrong with being morbid. We all will die one day (or maybe at the same time if there's a huge asteroid), so it's better to face reality in my humble opinion.

I personally want to be buried. Don't judge me but for some reason I feel like being cremated or given to science is just disturbing to me. I don't like the idea of being burned in a furnace of left for medical students to poke at. Even though I won't be aware of anything, I would prefer to be peacefully buried and eventually forgotten. I wouldn't feel so bad if it was an unmarked grave either. I can't imagine what my headstone would say anyway..."ate too many sweets and was very private" LOL.

I saw a video online with new burial alternatives where your deceased body is used to sustain a newly planted tree. I super like that idea for some reason and would be down with that!

Also I am embarrassed to admit it, but I am an accidental organ donor. I asked not to be an organ donor when I got my license renewed, but somehow it's highlighted. So if I did die, they would probably take my organs...I guess I'm fine with that. I'm sure most of my organs are in good condition since I don't really smoke or drink.

I think being in healthcare has messed up a lot of my views on death. If I die at an older age, I don't want to be messed with too much. Maybe bare minimum efforts to resuscitate me...or pain meds to make the transition less painful...but mostly I would like to be left alone.

Hope that doesn't sound too horrible.

    Re: After Death plans

    Hey Joey!

Don't worry about it being a morbid topic. We could use some more morbid topics on CNet! Also, congrats on your win yesterday :) I really dig that you're looking into donating your body to science! I sincerely think that's awesome and feel like there shouldn't be so much stigma around the topic.

At first, I thought I would prefer cremation, but in these last few years I found out about being buried as a seed pod, which means it's just your body buried in an egg-shaped pod. It is buried under a tree. The roots eventually attach the seed pod, and you become part of the earth as you decay. I think it's beautiful and much more sustainable than being buried in a coffin. Think about it, a forest for a cemetery--well, it also sounds creepy doesn't it? lol

Since this is more of a recent thing, I am not sure where in the U.S. it is done--or if it's even a thing here yet. It's a non-traditional burial, so I would imagine not a lot of people have done it here, but I know it is done in other countries.

Is it weird that I'm constantly thinking about this? lol. At least your forum shows me I'm not the only one thinking about it so early on.

    Have a nice day :)

    Re: After Death plans

This is a very cool idea to think about actually. If I were to die I would like my Spotify playlist to be played in my funeral because I can't trust anyone I now to respect and properly bring justice to my taste in music. I would also like to have a LOT of pizza at the wake because I respect the need for people to eat while they pay their respects for me. After the funeral I would want my casket to be launched into space so that I don't have to buried in the same planet with the person who created Standardized tests.
