    Favorite Style of Music?

    Hi gang,
I just finished 3-12 hour night shifts in a row. I'm a little fried...so...light and fluffy is what I've got today.

What's your favorite style of music?

If you could only have one style to listen to, for the rest of your life...what do you choose?

    Re: Favorite Style of Music?

    Good Morning Mike and all!

@Mi243 I feel your pain about the 3-12 shifts :( I have several different styles of music, it's hard to just pick one. It also depends what mood I am in that day. Some days I'm feeling super chill so I listen to rap, but then there is days where I want to just relax and listen to some indie folk. All in all, I would have to say indie folk would be the style I would want to listen to for the rest of my life. It's very relaxing music, but can also be very upbeat and a day lifter.

    Have a great day!

    Hi,

I definitely enjoy listening to rap. I like to beat and it surprises you at times as to how well the rhymes of the lyrics are. I also enjoy classical music. I have played the piano for over 10 years and it's relaxing to me. It's like music have ing emotion as it were a human. It's so surreal! The way classic composers like Beethoven and Mozart perfected their compositions of melodies and made them so vivacious and engaging, it really does something to a person's heart and how much they appreciate music that they consider to be inspiring.

    Hello!

My taste in music depends on the season. In the summer I listen to (some, emphasis on some) country music, Dave Mathews Band, and dance indie rock like music like Walk the Moon. Every other season, I listen to indie rock music.

I think an easier way to explain my favorite music is to say what I don't like. I don't like rap, or really hip hop. I think they all sound the same to me.

    Best,
    Hannah

    Re: Favorite Style of Music?

    Hi,

If I could listen to one type of music for the rest of my life, I would choose classical music. Most of my childhood I grew up with classical music because my brother attended music conservatory, and he played this music for me and my family all the time. I like to listen to the instruments and they make me so relaxed and pleasant for the ear.

I still listen to classical music today - especially on the weekends, or in the car while driving. It gets me centered, and relaxed. I could listen to this music all my life.

I don’t like most music that is played today on a radio. A lot of lyrics are about money and other bad things, and I have to turn off the radio, otherwise it will give me a headache. I like beautiful music and beautiful songs that are meaningful and inspiring - such as romantic music.

    Have a great day!

I love R & B, Gospel and Afrobeat. If i can listen to anything it will be hard to choose because i can get tired of one genre.

    Re: Favorite Style of Music?

    Hola amigo,

My favorite style of music depends on how I'm feeling or what I'm doing at the moment. The weather and my environment can also dictate what I feel like listening to. If outside cold and cloudy, I'd typically listen to music that consists of a lot of mellow, warm, acoustic tones. If outside were sunny and I was driving, I'd listen to some upbeat 80s music that's perfect for the drive!

When I'm studying, I typically like to listen to instrumentals: jazz, classical, blues; lyrics make me lose focus, but it's not always the case. If I'm doing math, I can do with music that contains lyrics, but reading something requires instrumentals.

    Re: Favorite Style of Music?

My favorite style of music is basically just any type of Spanish songs. I feel like I can get more like energetic with Banda or bachata.Although, I don't like corridos (some) cause they're just a bad example of what the world should be. They only talk about Narcs and drugs. But yeah I would certainly listen to banda (band) how ever you want to name it for the rest of my life.

    Re: Favorite Style of Music?

It's hard to pick one, but I would go with classic rock. I am always in the mood for classic rock, whereas I am not always up for grunge, alternative, classical, new music.

    Re: Favorite Style of Music?

    Hi Mi243,

Really I just like music that fits my mood or day or the atmosphere around me.

If its a beautiful bright sunny day out then I'll listen to faster upbeat songs. If I'm in a contemplative or reflective mood I'll listen too music heavier on instrumentals like jazz or classical piano. If I'm sad I'll listen to my Spotify "Melancholy" playlist. If I'm in a great mood I'll throw on some Jack Johnson or the Sales EP album or just my playlist "chill out cutie." My tastes are so varying and eclectic that really anything will do as long as it fits the mood.

    Re: Favorite Style of Music?

    Hi gang,
Thanks for sharing your favorite music style. Seems we've got a wide variety on Cnet, with regard to personal preferences. From Indie Folk to classical to classic rock to Spanish / Latin music to Jazz and Rap, and everything else I could have missed. That's pretty cool in my book. I'm happy we have diverse musical preferences. Hopefully we can all share some of our favorites and maybe pick up some new fans along the way.

Push comes to shove, I'd have to say Hard Rock / Heavy Metal does it for me, though I do have a soft spot for Jazz and Classic Rock as well. At the moment I've been listening to a great deal of Gojira, though if I were to get stuck on a desert island, I'd have to go with Pink Floyd, or Miles Davis. :)

    Mike.
