    Book or Kindle?

    Hello hello!

A forum about book tips yesterday got me thinking about asking you guys what you think about books versus Kindle (or reading on a digital tablet.)

I was and still am a hardcore fan of the real thing, because I love the feel and I love the smell. But also because I am scared that the real thing is dying out, and I read articles about libraries who have to close because no one is using them, and that makes me sad.

But last summer, I did an around the world trip as a backpacker, and there was no way I could bring books, so I got a Kindle for my birthday, and used it on the trip. I felt bad, but also good. As you can tell, I am torn.

    What is your opinion?

    Re: Book or Kindle?

    Hey!

I feel much the same as you do. If I were home, a real book is the way to go. Always. On the road for a long period of time, say a vacation or something, I would rather have a kindle or whatever for ease of packing and weight of luggage, etc. Plus I would be less likely to lose a book!

So, there is a place for all types of books, the key is that we read! Yay!

    Hey!

In the fifth grade, I was introduced to the wonderful world of Wattpad. I've never been the same since. Wattpad's stories aren't actual published books, but they're still amazing, and they helped me a lot. In school, you had the library and everything, but it's a lot harder to carry a book around everywhere, than it is to carry a phone or kindle. I've been an avid reader for as long as I can remember, and whether it was in the car, or in a restaurant, or in class (guilty as charged), I was always reading. Reading off my phone made my life a lot easier.

I'm not going to lie; reading an actual book does have its charm, but, nowadays, I'd be too afraid to lug it around with me. I'm always going somewhere, and losing a book would be like losing a limb. I'd rather not take that risk. My books are like my children.

All in all, I have books, and I read them and everything, but only at home. Anywhere else, I'm a phone/kindle kind of girl.

Good luck in today's election, and have a wonderful day!

    Re: Book or Kindle?

    Aloha,

I’m all about the real thing!! I just prefer the actual page turning. I feel like I also lose my spot more often when reading on an electronic device. The only plus side to a kindle is when you’re reading at the beach. No sun glaring on the page making it hard to see and no wind blowing the pages.

    Thanks for the forum!

    Hello,

Definitely books, hate reading from a kindle!

    Thanks

    Re: Book or Kindle?

I get the debate. I have 2 kindles and like 70 books, and as you can imagine when you put all those next to each other one is smaller than the other. So! The answer is simple!

If you need to be pragmatic, then take the kindle. And one book, there's always room for one. Travel demands a Kindle.

If you're just wanting to read, tote something around for the day, lounge in a hammock, then get a book! The pages, doodling in margins, flipping around randomly, infinite battery life...way better. Doing something is important, but how you do it matters a lot too.

Plus if a judge were to throw a kindle at a convicted criminal that would just be ridiculous, you need a book!
