    Carpet or Hardwood Floors?

    Hello All,

I was thinking yesterday after reading Kasey's forum, on how often you mop your floors, how would I answer the question the only floors in my house that aren't carpeted are the kitchen and bathroom. Which brought me to my question for today.
I don't know which I prefer, I mean the carpet does keep you nice and warm for the winter and probably less expensive, but hardwood floors just look super elegant and nice. I think I am going to have to go with carpet, just because they are easy to clean and not much of a hassle.

What about you? What type of floors do you have? Carpeted? Hardwood? Anything else? Which do you prefer?

Looking forward to reading you responses! Have a great Tuesday!

    Hey Grace,

I prefer hardwood floors and fi you want some plush beneath your feet, add a nice area rug. I think that tile floors are way colder than hardwoods, so I think the hardwoods can still give your home a warm feeling. I personally do not prefer carpets because they get stained so easily, they carry allergens and dirts so much longer than hardwoods can, and they have an initial lower cost to purchase, but you have to replace it more frequently in the long run.

    Hey Grace,

I think that hardwood floors look nice, but I definitely prefer carpets. First off, they are MUCH easier to clean in my opinion. I'd rather run a vacuum over them than have to sweep and mop. Second, my feet are pretty sensitive, so walking on hard wood floors without shoes on bothers my feet quite a bit. We currently live in a house that is hardwood floors, but we've put some pieces of carpet in the playroom and bedrooms. Nothing formal, it's not even bound as the edges! It's just enough to help my poor feet. Before we did that, I had to wear some kind of shoes in the house all the time, which I hate to do, otherwise I would have extremely sore feet by bedtime.

When the time comes to purchase a house, carpet will definitely be something that I consider. If the house doesn't have carpet already, I'll need to factor that in when I'm thinking of overall costs with the purchase.

Thanks for reading, and have a great rest of your day!

    Aloha Grace,

I prefer hardwood floors. I think it is cleaner and easier to clean. I have had experiences with carpets that are so disgusting and stains, with so much stuff on it, and I consider hardwood floors to be more hygienic with fewer spots for dirt to get caught on. I do like the softness of certain carpet, and believe that some carpets are more vacuumable than others (especially white ones where you can see the vacuum tracks). That is a lovely luxurious feeling to be in a place with that kind of clean white carpeting.
