    Big Changes!!

    Good morning, CNET!

When was the last time you experienced a big change? How did you handle it?

As many of you have been following along my daughter's hearing journey, yesterday we received news that she will be able to attend the Deaf/Hard of Hearing preschool. She starts next week and it will be an all day school. She will be infused with speech and will also be taught sign language as they go. It will be an incredible experience for her but I am also so sad that she is growing up so quickly! The educators who have helped us along this journey have been absolute saints and I am forever grateful for them!

    Hey Morgan!

Congratulations! That is great that your daughter will have an educational experience tailored to her. I think that meeting children also using sign language and speech will help her feel like she can express herself.

To me, the way I've heard parents describing children growing up makes me think it must be very rewarding, but also bittersweet. I'm sure it feels great to know that you are able to provide what she needs, and that you'll all grow from this experience.

I recently met a family, and one of the siblings was deaf. It was amazing seeing all the siblings (4 total) and parents communicate with each other with talking and signing.

A big change for me is happening now... transitioning from a student to a nurse. I've already been interviewing, and it's so surreal to be doing all this after having been in school for so long. It's like I forgot that one day I'll graduate and be practicing on my own. Both exciting and a little intimidating!

I wish you and your family the best!

    Have a great day!

    Hi Morgan,

I am so happy that you and your family were able to find a great school for your daughter! I am sure she will be happy there. Good luck on your family's journey and thank you for sharing!

The last time I experienced a big change was recently. My business partner and I decided to dissolve Staera, our eCommerce business. Even though I am only saving 8-12 hours per week of time, it feels like I am saving 20 hours because of the thought energy put into owning and running an eCommerce store.

I am very happy about this transition because although I love entrepreneurship and business, I really am not intensely passionate about selling clothing. I will be successful in whatever I choose to do next, I know it. What I have learned from Staera is probably a good chunk more than what most business majors know.

    Hey Morgan,

Thank you for your kind words on my post about graduating. I have really enjoyed getting to know you as well. I really do hope to stop in and post and vote for a while as I know how important that support is and how close some are to graduating and I don't want to miss that since we have been in it together!

What GREAT news about your daughter being able to attend school I know you have been waiting for this opportunity for her and I hope it is wonderful. She is so fortunate to have such a strong advocate in you and supportive parents like you and your husband. I know she is going to do wonderful!!!

Sign Language is really cool and was actually taught in my school at one time as a second language for any student who wanted to take it.

Thanks for the forum and have a good one!

    Hey Morgan,

I'm so happy for you and your daughter. I really like the fact that the school supports students with varying hearing ability and that they will teach with voice AND sign. I think our world would be a better place if more students learned like this.

My last big change was about a year ago, I went from self-employed to fully employed. I think about it now that I'm this far in and I was so new to the game. Still, I was welcomed and despite being a little afraid - I knew it was right. I also knew I was very lucky to land the position I did.

    Have a good day,

That is super exciting!! Congratulations! I am sure it is kind of tough to think of your daughter growing up, because I know my dad always had a hard time with me growing up.

I think the biggest change for me recently was moving away to college. I moved about 18 hours away and have had to learn a lot about living away from my family. It hasn't been all that bad, but the biggest thing I have had to learn would be to live with other roommates.

    Have a great night!
