    Can you cook?

As a college student, my cooking skills are limited to making Ramen in the microwave. When I'm home, I help my mom out with simple things but other than that, I'm pretty much culinarily illiterate. What about you? Can you cook? Where did you learn? What are some of your favorite dishes to make?

    Thanks for reading!

    Re: Can you cook?

    Hi Bailey,
I can kind of cooking. I know how to make certain dishes and I can follow a recipe. The problem is I don’t like to cook. I find I get bored and to impatient to wait for stuff to finish cooking. I know I need to start cooking more and learning more but I just can’t seem to get myself interested in it.

I love to eat but not so much cooking.

    Hey Bailey!

I'm no chef, but I can cook for myself pretty decently. I took a culinary arts class when I was in high school and that helped a lot! That's pretty much where I learned all that i know.

    Have a good one!

    Re: Can you cook?

    Hi Bailey,

    Great Question :)

I can't cook yet but I'm am learning from a really amazing chef and that chef is my mother. As a young lady who wants to start a family in the future, learning how to cook is very necessary and as someone who grew up in a Haitian household, A woman must learn how to cook. Anyone who is Haitian will say the same thing.

I used to think that Cooking wasn't for me and find it hard because I kept on messing up and it wasn't as easy as the that my mom makes it looks but I learn that mistakes are normal and they help us improve ourselves. Since my mom cooks every Saturday, I always make it to the kitchen to help her out so I can learn too.

I hoping to become as good as her :)

I'll keep you guys updated too

Thanks and have a great day!

    Re: Can you cook?

    Hey Bailey,

I can cook pretty good although there are some things I do suck at but I think most probably aren't good at some things unless they are an actual chef.As a mom to a 3 year old, I pretty much have to cook every day and he needs more than just microwaveable meals in my opinion.

I will admit I don't really like to cook especially with meals that involve a lot of prep or you have to stand over the stove to keep an eye on.

As for one of my favorite things to make, I actually prefer to bake and desserts would be my favorite. I don't really have a favorite I enjoy making but favorite meal to eat would probably be tacos/fajitas or fried chicken. I like to get fresh chicken and let it sit in a marinade/wash before dipping in a seasoned flour mixture and frying it. Homemade chicken tenders just taste so much better than frozen. I also love fried fish as well.

Fyi, Pinterest and recipe pages on Facebook do often give good ideas. I have gotten ideas off of those and have used the recipes to make it my own.

    Hi Bailey-
I can't cook for my life either... mostly salads and smoothies for this girl ha! But throughout undergrad I LIVED off of Trader Joe's! Don't know if you have one anywhere near you but they have the BEST frozen foods that are so easy to just throw in the oven and eat and they're actually YUMMY not those gross tv frozen dinners. They also have some really good microwavable things (and of course.. the best snacks!).

    Re: Can you cook?

    Hey,

I do know how to cook. My goal this pass summer was to experiment and learn as much as I can about cooking. I can honestly say I learned how to cook some amazing food this summer. Every summer I like to pick a hobby to do while I’m out of school so cooking was my choice this pass summer. I always knew how to cook before now, but I’m just way better at it. I’m proud of myself because I was able to teach my self and that to me is so great. Cooking is so fun to me I really truly enjoy it.

    Re: Can you cook?

    Hi Bailey,

Yeah, I can cook. My mom taught me from the age of twelve, and since then my cooking ability has grown tremendously. I've created some of my own recipes over since I was 12, but only three. But I refer baking more than cooking only cause its more fun to me. My favorite dishes to cook are whole chickens, enchiladas, tacos, stir-fries, baked potatoes, fajitas, and on budget meal my mom created when I was really young, called Corn stuff. The corn stuff recipe, if you want the recipe, I can share with you. Especially since I think its something that those who aren't good at cooking can make very easily.
