How long of not winning til you quit CNET?

    Hey CNetters!

    Good morning guys!

I was thinking the other day, how many weeks would you keep on Cnetting if you didn’t win for a while? Is there a point where you’d throw in the towel? Do you have a set goal, like an amount of money you’re trying to win before you retire? If you don’t win, is there a better use of your time?

It seems like the majority of us on here are going through a winning dry spell. I thought to myself how long am I going to keep cnetting if I don’t win? When I thought about it I realized I have some set goals that I want to make. My goal is to pay for college out of pocket, using no loans until grad school if necessary. Although I’ve entertained the idea of quitting, I won’t let myself until I reach my goal. Each week seems like a gamble, you don’t really know if you’re going to win. As for me, I see the gamble as a chance at lessening my financial burden. Even if I don’t win I’ll remain content. The money I’ve won already has helped immensely, and I couldn’t ask for more. I’ll keep writing and writing until I win. Quitting is not an option for me I’ve decided until the disbursement periods don’t line up with my tuition payments next year, or til I win enough to pay for the next 2 semesters. Besides CNET is fun, and almost kind of like social media. It’s fun to read all the posts and forums. Even without the scholarships, it’d still be an entertaining place.

Keep on keeping on guys! This site is worth it if you put He effort in, and remain consistent. I’d also like to thank all those who are participating regularly. You make this site enjoyable, and without you I’d be scrambling to pay for school.

    Have s nice day!

    Hey Jon,

It sure can get frustrating putting a lot of work into something, and not get out of it what you anticipated! I have had my ups and down here on Cnet, but I'm still going to keep on pushing and not give up. Even if I don't financially win, I'll have gained so much insight into various topics, and learned so much about people I otherwise never would have "met." It's almost as though I have made a new group of friends!

I intend to keep going with this until I have won the maximum amount allowed. Unless something changes drastically in my life, resulting in not having the time to dedicate. It can be a challenge, mostly on the weekends, to get all my posts in since we tend to be busy on weekends. I'm lucky enough that during the week I can take some time while at work to do my posts while on a break or lunch. For the weekends, I try to type up a post ahead of time so I can just copy-paste in the morning, then do my replies as time allows throughout the day. But that doesn't always happen!

Just keep chugging along, and think of everything you do get out of the site, even if you're going through a winning drought! I do enjoy reading your posts, so keep them coming!

Re: How long of not winning til you quit CNET?

    Hi Jon,

I won the rookie scholarship, then it was four and a half months before I won my second scholarship. I just kept posting, and voting, and keeping up with trying to create forums (that's the hardest part, right up there with finding the time). My goal is to keep going until I reach the maximum, and even after that, I will keep at least voting every day as a way to give back to those who voted for me and helped me reach that goal.

Having said that, I think if I went a whole year without winning even after posting and voting every day, I would probably look into other sources for money.

Keep going, it'll all come together for you. I really enjoy your posts.

    Have a good one!

Re: How long of not winning til you quit CNET?

    Hey Jon,
It can be totally challenging and hard to not give up when you don't win! I've been on this site since November of 2017 and sometimes I do well and sometimes I don't. It can be hard to continually come up with topics and to keep the group interested. It is my goal to keep going until I graduate from this site. My tip to everyone is don't give up! Like everything in life, frustration can happen but it's well worth it to keep chugging along!

    Thanks,
    Morgan

Re: How long of not winning til you quit CNET?

I've had that happen where I haven't won in a while and I feel like giving up, but consistency is key. Just yesterday I was only TWO spots away from becoming a winner. Hopefully this time around I'll actually end up in the winner slots! Have a good day!

Re: How long of not winning til you quit CNET?

    Hi Jon,

I agree with the others, let's just keep on keeping on!!!! CNet has been an absolute blessing for me! I didn't have any financial help throughout school and student loans were my only option. CNet is the only place that I have found that will allow scholarship payments to go towards student loans already acquired!!!!! I am so very grateful and it has helped me immensely!

It took me six straight weeks of daily participation and voting before I won my first scholarship. Since then, I have had much luck and have had several really long dry spells. I figure that's the nature of the site and I think it also depends on how many active participants there are as it seems to vary greatly. Of course, it also depends on the voters.

I'm with the rest of you, I am in it for the long haul. My goal is to graduate! We can do it!!! :) AND, a big, giant thanks to all of you who answer my forums and vote for me. I truly appreciate it and your help!

Re: How long of not winning til you quit CNET?

    Hey!

I have been on here since last year. I quit 3 weeks after winning once. I didn't come back until january. There have been many times that I haven't won, but i still compete because I really need the money just like everyone else haha... I think if it took more than 3 months of not winning i would quit then come back at a later time.

    thanks
    have a nice day!

Re: How long of not winning til you quit CNET?

    Hiya Jon,

Your forum was really well written and I'm sure the scholarships will flow your way soon.

I will be graduating collegenet with only 5 weeks of winning to go. I'm hoping to graduate before the new year so I should be able to make the goal. Despite this, I started in 2014. I won twice in college and gave up or rather took a break. I started back up at the end of 2017, and here I am now!

I think that's the best route -never give up. But if you need to take breaks then that's fine. Perhaps your time is better dedicated to studying or working a job that will definitely pay out at the end of the week. I did that a lot, although I wish I had stuck to posting then and I'd have less to pay now. Also less earning interest.

You're doing the right thing by continuing on. It's not easy on here, but it is well worth it.

Re: How long of not winning til you quit CNET?

    Hey Jon,

I actually have not won at all yet and I started being active on here again since July. The reason I quit being active before was more of how busy I got rather than not winning. But I plan to stay on here now until I max out winning or no longer need the help of paying off my loans. It really doesn't take too much time out of my day and right now I am a stay at home mom so I usually can find time to get on here. The hardest part is usually trying to find something to write about. Sometimes I'll think of a good topic, only to see someone else has wrote about it that day. I swear my mind must be connected to some members on here lol.

Re: How long of not winning til you quit CNET?

    Hello,

I think I have a few months in me. I don't like giving up, I'll try to keep being being persistent. I need the money for my loans as well so that's a huge incentive as well!

    Have a good day :)

Re: How long of not winning til you quit CNET?

    Hi Jon,

I try to notice patterns of forums that have more results from other members. Why did it get more than the others? What was the attraction? How can I use this attraction in a new post?

I agree that it takes a lot of time and effort, but the payout is sure worth it. When I see the amount of posts by some members who are still refusing to give up, I get a little hopeful. It does seem though that seasoned members tend to win more, I'm not sure if that's because they have a more prominent influence? Or have they truly mastered the art of forum creating? I would love to know some posting secrets!

I posted a new topic forum today about this subject; thanks for your inspiration! Go check it out, it's more specific about votes received I think you'll enjoy! :)
