    "K"

    Aloha CNETters,

I never get over the "k" texts. I don't understand why people feel the need to reply to a text with a "k." Is it just laziness most of the time? I usually feel like the person who responds with a "k" is irritated or careless. Am I being too sensitive?

It honestly is the most annoying thing ever

    Re: "K"

    Hey Kat!

I've honestly only ever recieved texts like that when someone's trying to upset me, so yeah, it's pretty annoying. I guess maybe laziness could cause it, but is typing "okay" really that much work?

    Have a good one!

    Hi Kat,

I agree that texting "K" definitely gets annoying. Depending on the person though, sometimes I try to cut them slack; I have a relative who regularly texts me "K," and I think that a lot of people who are new to smartphones/texting try to abbreviate too frequently.

I guess it all depends on the situation. Sorry if that wasn't much help.

Thanks for the forum, and best of luck in finding out what the "K" means!

So, is “KK” in acceptance? I try my best not to just type “K”. Maybe when I am driving and I’m in agreement to the plan. “K” is quite lazy. “Ok”is cool with me as well. What about if people use the emoji for ok or thumbs up? Those emojis take time right? Not lazy I guess!

    Re: "K"

    Hi Kat,

Well,,,sometimes I do respond that way! But not to be lazy. I do as a quick way to acknowledge a text. I use it so that my fellow texter knows I received the message. Sometimes that is all I put and sometimes I will send more when I have more time. My mom is one of the people that I will send "k" to because if I don't acknowledge her texts, she will stalk me! So for me, it just depends on who I am texting.

This never bother me. People send the text k just to show that they saw your text. My mom actually gets mad at me if she is telling me something and I don’t respond with something as simple as k to show I received it.

    Re: "K"

    Hey!

I am one of those people who respond to lots of texts with "k." It's not because I don't like who I'm responding too or that I'm too lazy, it's simply because sometimes there's no better response. Sometimes I feel like "k" is an insufficient response but there's also not much more I could say. If someone sends me something important or long-winded I do respond with more than "k."

    Re: "K"

    Hi,

I did once reply to my daughter’s text with “k” and she replied, “ please do not Potassium me”, they were learning the periodic table in school...glad she paid attention...I never have replied “k” again...LOL

    Thanks for the forum,
    Karen
