Would you rather live in Small Town or a Big City?

    Hey CNET,

Would you rather live in a Small Town or a Big City? I grew up dreaming I would live in a big city, but have lived in a small town for the last seventeen years and I enjoy it. It is much more laid back than the city I grew up in , which wasn't a huge city but three times larger than the one I live in now.

How about you? Small town or big city?

    Have a great day!!!

    Thanks for reading,

    Karen

    Hi Karen,

I grew up in a small town as well and was sure I would move to "the big city" when I grew up but I haven't.

I still live relatively close to the same town I grew up in and I have such deep roots and a connection to my community.

I love to visit the city but I honestly dont think I would be able to handle the traffic and congestion.

It's nice to be able to hear the crickets at night....LOL!

Thanks for the forum and have a good one!

    Hey Karen,

I love living in a larger city. I lived in Chicago for Grad School and loved it! It just makes it so much easier to find something to do and there's always something cool going on, so I prefer that. Where I live now, is a fair size city. Nothing close to the size of Chicago, but there's still things to do and I moved back home to be close to family.

    Aloha,

I would have to say small town over big city. I like living close enough to a big city but live outside of the city in a smaller town. That's how it is for me now- I live about a 30 minute drive from Honolulu (our biggest city) and then I reside in a smaller community. I've never lived in a huge city. Grew up mostly in a tiny little town. I liked that because I feel like you have the opportunity to be less materialistic and enjoy the simple pleasures of life more.

Re: Would you rather live in Small Town or a Big City?

I rather live in a big city. I've lived in many places from very populated big cities, decently big cities, small cities, in the middle of the country, and in a very little town that's only 20 blocks radius, seriously. All and all, I rather live in a big city but not super big for the convenience of necessities, better education and school resources for children, food, stores, and DIVERSITY!

My experience small towns and country people may be nice but you encounter people that are very racist, prejudice, narrow minded, and not use to people outside of what they are. Not to say these kinds of people are all over the world. But it's honestly like this is small places, many are stuck in their ways and they don't like change.

Hi, I have always lived in a small town or rural area and I love it. I hate the city driving and the congestion. There might be a lot of fun things to do in the city but the noise and chaos would drive me nuts.

Re: Would you rather live in Small Town or a Big City?

I would definitely rather live in or near a big city than in a small town. I was born in a big city so that’s what I know. I also love being close to anything I want or need.

Re: Would you rather live in Small Town or a Big City?

    hey!

I love being in a big city. I go to school in new york and am only 25 mins from NYC. its great always having something to do and being able to meet new people.

Once I'm older i could also see myself living on a little farm.

    Have a good day!

Re: Would you rather live in Small Town or a Big City?

    Hey Karen,

I live in a big (and growing!) city now. I loved it for a long time but it's wearing off on my and I think my family is ready for some place smaller. One great thing about big cities is a lot of great opportunities! On the downside, there's more crime, way more traffic, and more of everything that goes along with having more people per square mile.

    Thanks for the forum!

Re: Would you rather live in Small Town or a Big City?

    Hi,

I was raised as a city girl, so the big city is all I really know and love. I’m not against living in a small town. I like to keep an open mind about things. The only con about living in a small city is limited resources, jobs, and opportunities. I just feel like the big city is more lively and limitless.

Re: Would you rather live in Small Town or a Big City?

    Hey Karen,

I think I would hate living in a small town, but I think I would also hate living in a big city, I would love to live within driving distance, like a half hour or an hour of a big city so I could visit, but I love having options for things to keep me occupied. But ideally I think I would like to live in or near a smaller big city, with closer to a half million people, where they still have pro sports teams and big attractions, Minneapolis and Milwaukee come to mind for me. I couldn't imagine living in Chicago, NYC or LA, too busy, too crowded, more danger. For now I don't particularly like where I live, but 2 miles from my apartment is the 3rd biggest city in Iowa which keeps me from being too bored.

    Great topic,

    Max

Re: Would you rather live in Small Town or a Big City?

I would rather live in a big city than a small town. I've lived and raised in a big city all my life so as you can see I'm a city girl all the way. I've also moved and lived in a small town as well. There's so much more to do in a big city than a small town; however the cost of live in more expensive in a big city and a lot lesser in a small town. You also have more job opportunities in a big city than you would in a small town too.
