    Are you a morning person?

My partner is up at the crack of dawn, all cheers and smiles. I much prefer to sleep in and stay up late. I think that I could be a morning person if I really tried, but for now I am content with being a night owl.

Are you a morning person or a night person? Could you handle living with someone who's the opposite?

Re: Are you a morning person?

    Hey Monica,

Timely question for me because this morning was the first day I got up early enough to workout, walk the dog, have a cup of coffee and get to work by 8 am. Aaaaand I was a few minutes early into work. So proud.

All throughout school I was a night owl- going to sleep by 12 was early, but my new job has forced me to become a morning person. I notice little things about the morning that make my day better and try to reward myself. My morning alarm label asks me "Do you want shiny hair and coffee?"

Waking up late leaves me looking tired and groggy, so it feels much better to let my feet hit the ground sooner than later. Although convincing myself to get out from under warm covers is a pretty big feat every morning.

I don't mind having a partner that wakes up earlier than me, as long as they let me get my beauty sleep. Yet, ironically, when I'm the first to rise I want my partner to be up with me because I want company! Lol, such silliness.

Re: Are you a morning person?

I HATE waking up at 4 or 5 in the morning. It's like I'm slowly rising up like a zombie because I just feel so resigned to have my head continue to be on my pillow. Unfortunately, I'll have a class this spring that will start at 7:30 am!! Even though I live 10 minutes away from campus, I still have to wake up at 6! That means going to bed earlier for me. This is definitely going to be a struggle for this upcoming semester! The thing is that when I don't get enough sleep, I act like a zombie. I'm incoherent, I don't respond quick enough, and I'm kind of useless. I have to have that magic number of 9 hours of sleep for me to feel operational. Otherwise, it will be a LONG day at school for me.

    Have a Happy 2018 guys,

Re: Are you a morning person?

I am more in between as funny as it sounds. For me, it requires effort to be a morning person and a night person. Depending on my day goes, it’ll be either one. Whenever I used to have volleyball practice after school, that would drain me out and leave me feeling stressed and I would wake up the next day at 6:45 feeling well rested. However, sometimes I am very energetic after practice from some odd reason and that won’t allow me to sleep at a reasonable hour thus making a night person. If my *future* partner is a hardcore morning person, that might be difficult for me.

Re: Are you a morning person?

I used to be a morning person in the summer time, but I can never get out of my bed during the winter time. Getting out of the comfort of the warmth of my bed when it's hot during the summer isn't as hard as in the winter time when it's super cold and you just don't to keep cuddling under the blankets.
I don't have a problem with waking up, as in opening my eyes and willing myself awake, but I have the biggest problem with throwing myself out in the cold bright and early in the morning lol x)

    Have a good one!

Re: Are you a morning person?

Right now, I'm totally not a morning person! I stay up late so I hate having to get up at 6am to get to school on time. I'm a super heavy sleeper so I have to get 8-9 hours of sleep or else my alarm clock won't wake me up. Because I'm up late and I have to wake up early, I usually end up hating mornings.

On the other hand, there was a period where I would go to sleep at 7 or 8pm and wake up at 4 or 5am so I could work out or have the extra hours to work on homework. In this case, I'm a morning person and I love waking up to start my day.

I guess it all depends on the hours of sleep I get and how early I have to get up!

    Thanks for reading!

Re: Are you a morning person?

    Hi monicam,

    Happy New Years!

I'm definitely morning person but sometimes want to sleep in but I can't because I always go to bed early and have so much energy in the morning when I wake up because of my early sleeping habits. I started sleeping early because I would wake up supper early to go to school during my primary and secondary school years but I still kept that schedule even though I'm now in college. If I'm extremely tired or sick, I would sleep in but other than that I'm an early person.

Thanks for the forum and have a great day!

Re: Are you a morning person?

I am a morning person! I love starting my day early and getting things done. I'm usually in bed around 9 or 10 pm, and I will wake up around 6:30 or 7 am. I've had this sleep schedule for so long that now, sleeping in means I will wake up at 8 am instead of 7.

As bluebella mentioned, getting a workout in, having a cup of coffee, and making it to work early leaves me feeling so accomplished. If I oversleep and have to rush through my morning routine, I will burn out by the time noon rolls around. I've noticed that when I wake up early and take my time through my routine, I feel so much better throughout the day. Sleep is very important to me and my overall well being, and I definitely feel the effects of losing sleep when I stay up late.

    Thanks for the forum!

Re: Are you a morning person?

I am a night person. Especially due to my schoolwork. I tend to stay up late at night as I have practice until 9pm and then stay up till around 2-3am finishing up homework. I am a high school senior and took 6 ap classes so my sleeping schedule is full of sleep depravity. Before my ap classes, I was a morning person who slept around 10 pm. Those were the days...

Re: Are you a morning person?

    Hi monicam,

I am indeed more of a morning person.. that is, if I had enough sleep. Otherwise, if I sleep in, i am more of a night owl. So it is really dependent on when I go to sleep the night before. However, most of the time I am a morning person.

Re: Are you a morning person?

I feel fresh when I woke up in the morning, however, it is very difficult to waking up. :)

Re: Are you a morning person?

I am like you. I prefer to stay up late and sleep in the next day (if possible). Unfortunately I tend to stay up late even on nights where I know I have to wake up early the next day (like right now lol). I know that I will hit the snooze button 100 times tomorrow morning, but honestly I think I would do that even if I went to bed early! Maybe it’s just something we’re all born with? Or maybe it’s a result of our sleeping routines growing up? That actually makes sense, my parents used to let me sleep in late all the time. There was once a fire at our next door neighbor’s house with a ton of ambulances, fire trucks, police sirens, etc. and from what I am told I slept right through it whoops!

Re: Are you a morning person?

    Hi Monicam!

I am definitely a night person. I mean, the name is Night Owl Omar after all. I have had jobs that require me to wake up early, but usually I'm a zombie for the first few hours. Not until I've had my coffee and been moving for a bit am I full awake. I find staying up at night a lot more peaceful, because it's quiet, and everyone in my house is already asleep.

Glad you're a night owl too!

Re: Are you a morning person?

I love sleeping and try to get to bed as soon as I get my children to sleep and everything done. I am normally up very early with them in the mornings, so I guess that makes me a morning person but I am not very cheerful lol

My husband on the other hand, loves to chat in the mornings and is usually always happy.

Re: Are you a morning person?

I haven’t always been. But I’ve noticed since I’ve started my new job I have to be to work at 7:30am, so I got to bed early because I’m usually exhausted by the time I get home. I also don’t go to the bar anymore so I’m never up late which definitely helps for early weekend shifts!

Re: Are you a morning person?

I am only a morning person if I have to chase that paper or attend school to get my education. Otherwise I would prefer to myself as a night person. just because I am more wide awake compare to the morning were its a hassle to get my eyes open.

Re: Are you a morning person?

It’s hard to say, if your a night person you’re a night person. But, it technically all depends on your sleeping schedule. If you fixed that and just worked up when they did and did your daily routine or did something to keep you up you’d sleep at night and be able to get up at the time they do. I used to be a night owl over the summer until I had to get on track for school again. So I did as I just said and I’m fine with waking up at 6:30 am and going to bed after work around 9. So it’s not too bad after you get into the swing of thing. Good luck!

Re: Are you a morning person?

I never wake up early when I don't have to haha

Re: Are you a morning person?

    Hey Monica!

Although I love mornings, I am not much of a morning person. I tend to go to sleep very late so I am not the happiest person when I wake up in the morning. But I can handle living with morning people, because all of my family are.

    Have a nice day :)

Re: Are you a morning person?

I am absolutely a morning person. I often go to the 24 hour supermarket at 6 am in the morning. Also on the weekends I go to most stores when they first open and have completed all of my errands by lunch time. Overall, I have the rest of the day to hang out with family and friends. Thanks for the forum and have a fabulous night.
