    Would you buy a lipstick/gloss for $20?

Good morning everyone! Happy Wednesday :)

My question today is mainly for girls, but guys I would like your opinions as well.

    Would you buy a lipstick/gloss for $20?

    - So I really like this lipstick that is called lipsense. It's long lasting and I just love the red color. I really want to buy it, but I don't know if it's worth getting only one for $20 when I can get several others for $20.

Have any of you girls tried this product and do you think it's worth it? I don't buy makeup that much but I really want this lipstick lol.

looking forward to hear from you guys!
    Thanks,
Have a nice day and Good luck for today!!

Re: Would you buy a lipstick/gloss for $20?

    Hi,

I would buy a lipstick/gloss for $20 if it's my holy grail product. My issue with lipsense is that it's an MLM and I refuse to buy anything MLM. I never have and never will, because in my opinion MLMs exploit women and get them to take advantage of their friendships and invest a lot of money into a product that often doesn't sell. So I'd definitely buy a $20 makeup item that I really like as long as I can buy it from Ulta or Sephora.

Heck no!!! I have other items that would be worth $20 than freaking lip gloss.

Re: Would you buy a lipstick/gloss for $20?

    Hi!

I've never heard of that brand, so I can't comment about that. About the price, though, I'd say that if you know you're going to wear the lipstick often, and if it is a good long-lasting brand of lipstick, go for it! If it's a color that you think will look good on you and you know it will go to good use, it is good to splurge and treat yourself every once in a while. You do want to make sure you'll get your $20 worth though, instead of trying it once and then leaving it to sit in your makeup drawer :)

Re: Would you buy a lipstick/gloss for $20?

    Hi NjBr,

I have never heard of that brand. However, I would get it if you are going to use it a lot and know this is something you would get a lot of use out of.

I love buying vegan products and I bought these lipsticks that were like $9 dollars each, so $18 for two lipsticks that I use semi-frequently. Definitely worth the purchase and I will buy again in the future!

    Cheers!

Re: Would you buy a lipstick/gloss for $20?

I would absolutely spend $20 if it were a really amazing lipstick and it was made with high quality ingredients. I have never used that particular brand, but I say go ahead and buy it! What else would you spend the money on? If you are anything like me, you would otherwise spend it on eating out and that is not a priority.

I spend $17 on my favorite mascara by Clinique. I love the dark color and one tube lasts me for a long time because I don't wear makeup everyday.

Re: Would you buy a lipstick/gloss for $20?

    Hey Njbr!

Go for it!!! It sounds like a product that will last long and you will get your money’s worth and red is a beautiful color. It’s my favorite color lipstick. I might just have to search for it. Lol

The most expensive makeup I buy is my MAC compact for about $27. It is a foundation and powder mix. It usually lasts about 2.5 months. I’d rather buy something that is high quality that will last longer than buy a bunch of cheap makeup that you will end up spending more on to replace it.

    Treat yourself!

Re: Would you buy a lipstick/gloss for $20?

    Hey NjBr!

I never spend money on makeup, I wear it like 5 times a year and just buy something cheap, but... I LOVE lip sense!

I hate wearing lipstick because it always rubs off on everything and you have to reapply it and it smudges and I worry about how I eat. But lipsense really does work. It lasts all day and will not come off on a single thing, I don't even feel it on my lips so I feel way more free with it on. Because when I have lipstick I feel it caked on there and I worry about how I move my mouth because it might move my lipstick. Lip sense just sits there very nicely and I honestly love this product so much. It;s really worth buying it for $20. If you think about it, if you have to keep reapplying your lipstick you'll burn through that few dollar thing in no time. With lipsense, you just put two coats and you never have to retouch it. One tube lasts a long time.

Lipsense is the only product that I will spend that much money on because I really do think that it's worth it! Oh! I also recommend buying the gloss top coat as well for the extra shine, I really like it. So it is a little more money, but I do think it's worth it, it makes the color look more vibrant and shinny.

Re: Would you buy a lipstick/gloss for $20?

    Hi,

I almost bought this brand a couple months ago. I love all the reviews and got really excited to try it until I saw the price. I went with a Revlon stay on and gloss combo for $7 instead and I was extremely shocked when it lasted the full 8 hrs as claimed. I could eat and everything as normal and the color really stayed on. I have spent $20 on eyeliner and it was good but later found a $3 that worked just as well. Sometimes I feel we end up buying the name than the actual product.

Re: Would you buy a lipstick/gloss for $20?

    Hey NjBr,

I bought a lipsense color and gloss from a friend who recently started selling. I'm not as happy with it as I'd hoped, but it still performs pretty well. I have an $18 cover girl long lasting lip color that is pretty comparable. I was also disappointed with the fact that you have to buy the color and gloss separately. Without the gloss your lips will literally stick together and the color doesn't stay. The gloss is another $20 on top of the $20 for the color. I end up reapplying the gloss probably 4 to 6 times in a day, so mine is almost empty while the color is still almost completely full. I'll have to buy another gloss if I want to keep using it. So for $40, is it worth it? Not really, but I do like it.

Now, about MLMs...I agree with Monicam's comments above for the most part. I think the problem with these businesses is that individuals starting their little home businesses do not approach it like a "typical" small/at home business would be run. I'm sure many of these get started on a whim as something to make a little extra money on the side. Since many of them have low start-up fees, it's easy to jump in. Would you start any other business without a business plan? Unlikely. Direct selling could be a great opportunity for people if it was approached a little differently. Because, yeah, relying on sales to your friends and acquaintances will not hold up long.

Thanks for indulging this morning rant. I hope you find a great lipcolor that you love!

Re: Would you buy a lipstick/gloss for $20?

    Hey NjBr,

I don't purchase lipsticks myself. I purchase a Beauty Subscription box called Boxycharm. Its 21$ a month and you 5-6 FULL size products ranging from makeup, skincare, and nails. it has name brand products like Tarte, Ofra, Mac, Colourpop, and bare minerals. plus so many more. Each box has over 100$ worth of makeup. I started out with like a tiny little bag of drugstore stuff and now after having Boxycharm, shelves full of makeup products. I Love the Eyeshadow pallets and liquid lipsticks.

If I do run out of some of my favorite lipsticks that I love from the box, I can go their website and use my points I earn over time and purchase more

    Thanks,
    Chey
