    Board games

    Hello everyone!

I was talking to my boss yesterday and he's part of a board game group (how awesome right?!). The last meeting he was telling me about was called "boardgames and brews" and they had it at a brewery haha. Well i LOVE boardgames and all types of games really , so that's what my topic is about today.

My favorite board game has always been Sorry. Some people may say that it's "simple" or "boring" BUT THEY ARE LIVING THEIR LIVES WRONG! (in my opinion (: ). There's nothing like the satisfaction of pulling a Sorry card out off the top of the deck and getting to send someone home. My mom got me a Sorry game my freshman year of college for christmas and I've kept it in my living room (regardless of where on campus or what state I live in) ever since.

    So CNetters,
Do you have a favorite board game?
    What is it?
What about your favorite card game?

I look forward to reading your responses!
    Have a great day!

    Re: Board games

My favorite is Pictionary! I love to draw and guess other people's drawings! As for my favorite card game, it is a toss up between Uno and Speed.

    Re: Board games

Hi, I like Pictionary and Charades because they really get people excited. I also like playing Jenga with big blocks and aggravation. Our family used to play a lot of games, but have kind of moved away from it. I would like to see us pick it up again. We used to stay up late playing Progressive Rummy and more.

    Hey Wames

I loved watching charades but I was always terrified to participate xD I get nervous when I have to be in front of a group of people and the attention is on me! I go brain dead and can't think of any actions to describe the word haha
I do love rummy though. My family always played it on vacations. We would go up to rummy 5,000 and i think my sisters and I even tried to go to 10,000 one time over the summer. We just kept picking up wherever we left off.

Games are a great bonding experience and just a fun way to hangout!

    Re: Board games

I love board games, too! But I don't have many and I feel like I never have anyone to play them with! My favorite board game has to be Life. It's time consuming, but so much fun! As for card games, I'm obsessed with Uno. Phase 10 is a close second. Senior year of high school, my friends and I had a free period every day and we played Uno every single day!

    Re: Board games

I love board games as well!! They certainly make you unBORED, haha see what I did there? Anyways, I love Monopoly and Risk. Both of those games require strategy and skill. Both games also take very long to complete! There have been many times where I have started these games and they have gone on for so long that we could not finish.

My favorite card game has got to poker. I'm pretty good at it! I don't gamble too much but it is always fun just to play for fun with buddies as well!

    Thanks for this forum!

    Re: Board games

Settlers of Catan! It's the new Monopoly, but better, and with morals.

I used to love Monopoly, but as I grew up I started to realize how messed up it was and it really bugged me. Like, if we were going to teach kids about life with this game, it would create millionaire hungry, greedy ass holes. Statements like "Ugh I wish I could just go to jail instead of pay rent!" come out of people's mouths and it's just about racing around and trying to get your rent paid.

Settle's of Catan is basically the opposite. You get to trade resource cards, like in real life if we were to work with the land and animals and trade with our neighbors. It actually breaks up any monopolies forming because if anyone rolls a 7 then everybody with more than 8 resources has to get rid of half of them.

And it's not as long as monopoly.

    Re: Board games

    Hey court

I like sorry too. I'd have to say my favorite board game is either trouble or monopoly depending on my patience for the day.

My favorite card game is buddy. I learned it from my great aunt Rubby. It's like uno with regular cards I believe. I haven't played it in a while. Other than that my favorite card game is spades.

    Re: Board games

I don't think I have a specific favorite board game or card game. I don't play enough that's for sure. I do enjoy playing Hearts though I play it with my uncle and his family every time I see them.

    Re: Board games

    Good Morning Court,
Happy Saturday! I would have to say my favorite board game is "Taboo" because I love the competition spirit of the game. At every family gathering we form two teams and the women are always the winners. After dinner we live for that game moment (lol).

thanks for the forum and enjoy your day.

    Re: Board games

    Hi Court,

Boardgames and Brews sounds like a great time! I love going to breweries when they have games out so you and your crew can play them.

    Sorry! is a great game!

This sounds super nerdy but I love to play chess. I like the strategy behind it, and I also like how competitive it can get. I also love playing cards of any kind (I know it's not a board game, but still really fun!)

    Thanks for the post!

    Re: Board games

    Hey Court!

I must say that I am a huge board-gamer! I love to play Sorry, Monopoly, Cataan, Ticket to Ride, Killer Bunnies, Cards Against Humanity, Chess, Checkers, Yahtzee, Phase 10, Sword and Skulls, Scrabble, Battleship, and so many more! I love that board games take strategy and that you have to use your brain, while all the while it's still fun and social. It's the best of both worlds in my opinion.
