    Favorite board game?

What is your favorite board game?

What do you like about it?

    Is it challenging?

My favorite board game is Risk. This is a very challenging game that involves a lot of strategy and wits. I can play this game for hours and be constantly entertained! I haven't played in a while though!!

Hi Tom - My favorite would have to be Sequence. It is a fantastic game that's a mix of cards, chips, a game board, a connect-4 type feel and lots of strategy. You can play it with about any number of people (2-12) and it's good for kids because there's not a lot of reading necessary. The strategic part of the game makes it good for adults too!

If you've never played it before, you should really check it out. It's a lot of fun!

    Hey Tom!

My favorite board game would have to be Catan. The main reason I like is, although it doesn't cover everything players look for in a great game (like theme, strategy, replayability, etc.) perfectly, it covers ALL of them to a satisfying degree.

Some might argue Catan is like Monopoly, but I think everyone has a fair advantage even when they think they're behind. In Monopoly, after one person starts getting all the properties and builds houses frequently, it's pretty much over. In Catan you could at least work together to thwart the greater enemy from moving on.

    Hey Tom!

I haven't really tried a lot of board games, but the one I'm the most familiar with is monopoly. I've played it a lot with my brothers and cousins during the summer. I like it because it's not a game that finishes quickly and if you're in a large group then it's really a lot of fun and it's nice to spend a long night on. Plus it's simple and easy to understand and all ages can play in it.

I honestly rarely have finished the game before, because we always seem to decide to finish it later, and then everyone loses their money or something and we just end up not finishing it. But i do want to check out the board games you and the others mentioned. Thanks!

    Have a great day :)

    Re: Favorite board game?

    Hi all!

I really love to play Risk as well! I love the amount of strategy that has to go into the game to win. Unfortunately it takes a long time to play and most of my friends/family don't have the patience/time/inclination to sit down and play for that long.

I also really love Monopoly which may be cliche but I have some really great memories of spending the summer playing Monopoly with my grandma and I really love the game. My mom even had this vintage Monopoly set that we got to play sometimes and it was really cool with all of the old timey pieces.

    Thanks for the forum!

    Re: Favorite board game?

    Hello Tom

I'd have to say that my favorite board game is chess. Reason why is because it too is a game that involves strategies and a lot of thinking before making the next move. I love the game because I used to play it a lot when I was young. I even joined a High School chess club team, and playing chess I noticed that I was excelling in my studies fluently and understanding a lot of situations, concepts, and problems that I could not know before. I believe that chess makes one brighter and somehow enhances that individual more, That's why I love it. It is a challenging game that involves a lot of thinking. One simple mistake and it can cost you the game. Plus one has to think how to attack the opponent without him or her being able to read your moves. It's a good game and unfortunately, I too have not played chess in a while and am seeking to go back and play it again. My goal is to buy a wooden chess board and once again play a game of chess.

    Re: Favorite board game?

    Hi Tom,

Risk is actually my favorite game as well. I really like strategy games like Risk, Chess, and Forbidden Desert. Strategy is my type of board game because thinking is my strong suit. I am not too great at games that involve a decent amount of luck, but games that require me to think 3 or moves ahead are great. I haven't lost a game of Risk yet, but I am sure my day will come. Unfortunately, I don't get the chance to play to often because I don't have too many friends that are willing to play.
