    Homework Schedule

    Hey CNet!

How quickly do you tend to get your homework done? Do you do it as soon as possible after it's assigned or do you wait a while? Do you find yourself constantly doing homework the night before it's due?

I like to do mine ASAP, especially at the beginning of the term. Getting as far ahead on schoolwork as I can helps me feel a lot less stressed and more in control of my schedule!

    How about you guys?

    - Anna

    Re: Homework Schedule

    Hi Anna!

At the start of the quarter, I like to read or at least skim all of my textbooks. I get all my homework done early, and I feel antsy that I don't have enough to do.

However, as the term goes on, I often find myself procrastinating more and more. Instead of doing it right after class, I'll take a nap or read a book or play a game first. I'll let work pile up and do hours and hours of work on weekends. Then, midterms will hit and I'll get back on top of my stuff, at least for a little while.

I have a really bad habit of putting off essays until a few nights before, but this last quarter I actually started improving on that, so that's good.

I've been working hard to try and keep up my beginning of the quarter homework schedule instead of letting myself slip. I've been getting better, but I still have a lot to learn and do.

    All the best,
    Matt

    Re: Homework Schedule

    Hi Anna,

I also do mine right away and try to stay a little ahead of schedule. I don't like scrambling at the last minute and putting some garbage together to turn in. I never know when I may have a chaotic day or days so I try to stay about a week ahead of schedule if the teacher puts out the assignments early enough. I like to have some breathing room and even though it keeps me busy, I don't ever feel stressed about how many assignments I have and sometimes can finish the class a little early when they are online classes, which mine are.

    Re: Homework Schedule

    Good morning, Anna!

I started out the semester working on homework as soon as it was assigned; however, Monday night was a long night for me because I had homework in my Algebra class to do and study for a quiz in Biology. It sucked because I didn't end up with a lot of sleep on Monday night, in fact I only got about an hour. Lesson learned. I am trying to figure out how to balance everything and hope to figure it out sooner, rather than later.

    Have a great day!

    Re: Homework Schedule

I try to do mine as soon as I possibly can, but sometimes life happens, but I always keep a mental note to get it done!

    Re: Homework Schedule

    Hi Anna,

I often wish I get it done ASAP, but I almost always delay for a couple of days. I'm trying to psyche myself to get it done at most 2 days from the day it was given so I don't get to procrastinate until it's a day to go.

I truly envy those folks who have no problem with focusing and getting homework done same day or latest, the next. I'll try to get there soon.

Thanks for the forum and for reading my comment.

    Cheers.

    Joe

    Re: Homework Schedule

    Hello Anna,

Last semester, I left most of my homework to the last minute. I may have started early, but it didn't get finished until, sometimes, a few minutes before the online submission system closed. I'd like to get better at working ahead this year, but it can be tough juggling responsibilities, prioritizing, and fending off procrastination. My leaning towards perfectionism can hinder me from completing what I need. Like Matt, I'm usually more responsible at the beginning of the semester, and start to slip as the load builds up. I'm hoping to break this bad habit by setting asides times for HW and study in my schedule.

    Thanks,

    -Nathan

    Re: Homework Schedule

    Hey Anna!

Like you, I too like to get my assignments out of the way as soon as they are assigned. Most of my assignments this semester are broken up into modules and assigned on Mondays so the saturday/sunday before I tend to just get a general idea of what the assignment is and then spend monday and tuesday just hammering it out so I can have the next few days to myself before starting the cycle all over again.
