Is your hometown known for anything?

    Hey everyone!

I am from a very small town in Michigan called Paw Paw aka "the town so nice they named it twice"... needless to say not many people at all have heard of this small township of less than 4,000 people. However, this past weekend we just had our yearly Grape and Wine festival as grapes are a big crop around where I live. If anyone has actually heard of Paw Paw, they always know it because of the wineries we have here! Our biggest one, St. Julian Winery, is actually pretty well known (at least in Michigan).

So that brings me to my question for tonight!

Where are you from and is it known for anything?

    Hey Abby!

Nationally/internationally, my hometown is known for two things: Sully Sulenburger (he landed that plane in the hudson river) and Bridges restaurant, which was in Mrs. Doubtfire.

Locally though, it's known for a lot of snotty rich kids. I'm not wealthy, so this reputation is just embarrassing for me.

    Have a good one!

    Hey Abby!

I've lived close to Nashville most of my life and when someone asks where I'm from, that's usually where I say. Nashville is obviously known as the "country capital of the world", though I'm not into country music at all. For the most part, if I wasn't told I was in Nashville (and presumably didn't recognize where I was) I would have no idea that it had country music themes, In the cities I've been to, most of it seems pretty comparable.

    Hi Abby,

I am from Seattle as are/were many musicians- Jimi Hendrix, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Heart, Alice in Chains, pretty much the whole grunge scene. When tourists come here the main attractions are the Space Needle and Pike Place Market (most known for the fish market where they throw fish). Let's see, what else...Starbucks, overpriced real estate, a mayor who just resigned after his 5th child sex abuse allegation. Seattle was temporarily home to serial killer Ted Bundy and the Green River Killer was just south of Seattle. Not a lot to brag about other than the music and view on a sunny day or at night. I used to love Seattle as a kid but not as fond of it as an adult. I'm about 40 miles south of Seattle now.

    Good morning!

My hometown is known for a few of things. The first thing that my hometown is known for is being the home of Miss America 2007, Lauren Nelson. That was a big deal for my town. The second thing that my hometown is known for is that it made one of the top 10 list; however, that wasn't really a positive thing. My hometown made it as number 8 in Forbes list of most dangerous US cities for women to live. Finally, another little known fact is reportedly Joan Crawford lived in Lawton when she was a young child.

    Have a great day!

I come from a small town in Wisconsin, originally, and while most people would't recognize the name of the town where I actually lived, the next town over was Elkhart Lake, home to Road America, a race track which has been featured in some video games and draws a certain amount of attention from car and racing aficionados. I would be very interested to know if anyone here has heard of it before!

    Have a great day!

    Hey Abby,

My hometown is known for rubber. We have the world headquarters of Goodyear and during the major rubber production times in the late 1900's just about every rubber company was here. We also have the only building in the world that has its own weather and we have a blimp. The national football hall of fame is only 20 minutes away, the national rock and roll hall of fame is about 40 minutes away along with several major sports teams. I actually got to play on the hall of fame field in high school a couple times which was pretty cool.
