11:11 Phenomenon ....something to get you thinking
The Mayan calendar, that we follow today, ends on the winter solstice on December 21, 2012 at 11:11 Universal Time. Which counts down interestingly enough, to something the Mayans new would occur on this date. This is the connection between the the 11:11 phenomena and the end of this game period. The Mayans ended the calendar for a reason, that reason we do not know. And for reason it is tied in 11:11 and the phenomenon.

Some background on the 11:11 Phenomenon:

11:11 1111 11:11 1111

The phenomena started 10 or 15 years ago about the time that hum was being heard all over. It was became the TAOS hum because it received enough attention to be investigated it also in those that could hear it created a heightened sense of awareness. Many had the experience did not realize it was also shared by others until it was spoken about on Fidonet, Dialup Bulletin Boards, Compuserve and then The Internet. What people found was that the 11:11 experience was as a shared experience. It is simply an occurrence where at 11:11 (am/pm) their attention would be pulled to a clock, not to see what time it was, but one simply gets an impulse to look at the clock. One is not looking to see what time is it. It is almost an unconscious glance. The other aspect is where an significant event occurs at 11:11, as some kind of indicator. The eleven eleven relates to a lot of things perhaps deeply embedded in the essence of times in the past. Long ago when there were few great buildings and they were the center of our collective activity the most prominent feature we would first see were the columns. There was also written ancient text that there were two columns and sealed in them and carved upon them was some very special knowledge and information.

Personally I see it all the time. 11:11, 1:11, phone calls lasting 11 mins, randomly glancing at a page number and it being 11, the time on left on the microwave, my loan i relieved was for 11,000 dollars. Those are only a few example I cold go one. I see it every day numerous times a day and I'm not even trying. I have attempted to block it out, but it doesn't leave. I'm trying to figure out what I believe.

What do you think of the phenomenon? Have you experienced it?

I've always heard that 11:11 was a magic time and if anyone looks at a clock around here and it is a 11:11 they say "eleven eleven make a wish" other than that i don’t know very much about what you are talking about. I've never heard of it before. But i agree with you 11 is a number that pops up around me a lot (not as much as 3 or 9 but still) i look at the clock at 11:11 a lot, more than any other time really, never really thought of it though. I don’t know what to believe just yet, I’ll look into it in the future and gather more information before i make a decision.

I have never heard of the 11:11 phenomenom. I seem to have a similar experience, though, with 3am. I have heard it said that that was supposed to be a witching hour or a demon hour of some sorts where bad spirits were said to haunt during the 3am hour.

You have provoked thought. I will have to do some research into 11:11.

I have actually never heard of this. However, I have noticed that since 9/11, I am compelled to look at the clock at 9:11 just about every day (a.m. or p.m.). I have always wondered if someone were "visiting" me that was killed on 9/11, and that was somehow their way of letting me/us know to never forget.

Thanks for the interesting post.

P.S.: Last night I was also complelled at 11:11 to look at the clock.

I'm glad i'm not the only one!! i always seem to look at the clock at either 11:11, 9:11, or something involving the numbers 23 or 32, it really is creepy, and it has been happening for years.

I have never heard of this. I am going to have to pay closer attention to when I look at the time. Now my couriosity is peaked, I am going to have to research...

Re: 11:11 Phenomenon ....something to get you thinking
I don't think that this is anything that should be taken seriously. Regarding the Mayan Calendar and the prediction that the world will end or that we will undergo some kind of spiritual/mental shift, I think that it has been way too hyped up much like y2k was and in the end it will prove to be just as disappointing. I guess I would have to do more research on it to understand it more.

As far as the looking at the clock at 11:11, I personally think that this phenomenon is related to the confirmation bias and other subconscious processes. Someone probably mentioned this phenomenon to you and thereafter whenever you saw 11:11 on the clock the original prediction was confirmed. However if you were look at the clock many times for a week and many of those times you would see the time 4:34 for example, this time has no significance or no previous connection to anything therefore you won't even notice or acknowledge the fact that you have repeatedly looked at the clock at that exact time. Personally this has happened to me as well but with the time 9:11. After that event, I have spent weeks or days at a time where I would constantly look at the look at 9:11, I thought it was kind of weird but later I figured it was no more than a coincidence.

Wow I just wanna follow up to this forum by saying that something extremely interesting happened to me today. At both times today I looked at a clock when it was 11:11 both times I looked because I wanted to know what time it was, so it wasn't as much of an impulse as you had describe but more of a really weird coincidence.

It kinda gave me goosebumps.

I think you need to chill out. Your claim in this is vague at best and completely misleading at worst. Numbers appear everywhere - the fact that you are looking for and seeing one repeatedly proves nothing but the fact that you needstop buying into myths. To say that the Mayan calendar ended for a 'reason' is not accurate. It ended, but the reason may have been merely the fact they just stopped.

I can prove I'm right too: look for any other random number. Try 5 or 8 or 22. Any will work. you have to believe in the number and you'll see it everywhere.

Re: 11:11 Phenomenon ....something to get you thinking
Thank you for posting this; I love the Maya calendar. That's what brought me into this thread, really, and so I have to comment on that before I go any further. I've done some independent research into this, the calendar, how it works, the end of it, because it really is a fascinating subject. What I've come up with is that no one knows for sure if they ENDED the calendar or just stopped counting. One source I found said that the Maya predicted events until the 5th century. What I do know is that one of the Maya units of time, the grand cycle, a very long unit of time (about 5125 years), comes to an end on that day and that's mostly what all the fuss is about. Another independent researcher who has published books on the topic claims that the cosmos will be in alignment on that day and that the Maya knew this and specifically calibrated their calendar for it but I'm not sure if I buy into everything he says. And, of course, that day also varies, depending upon which scholar you believe, but the 21st has been the one most widely settled on as correct.

Now, as to 11:11, I haven't noticed any particular penchant in my clock watching for those numbers. In fact, I haven't found any numbers occurring with any frequency. Now, that could be because I'm not keeping track of what numbers pop up or because I forget too easily anyway. But I do find it interesting how many people notice these things.

Re: 11:11 Phenomenon ....something to get you thinking
Believe it or not, this phenomenon has been studied and 11:11 is showing up randomly very much more than any of these other numbers. Of course it doesn't matter if you believe it anyway. I think you would if it happened to you. I was in a store on May 11th. My daughter and I had been talking about the 11:11 thing, the day before. The customer in front of me was being told that it was may 11th, the time was 11:11 and her total was $31.11. The customer and I were amused but the poor cashier was freaking out. I told her to go on line and check it out, so she settled down a little. It was happening to her so much she was actually frightened. It was in her address, her phone # and a long list of other things. People who are experiencing it are totally convinced.... :)
