Cutting Hair
So, it's Wednesday...and this may be a fluff topic, but I'm curious...

Has anyone cut a lot of hair off before? This is mostly for the ladies, but I'm sure some guys have been there too...

I just cut 6 1/2 inches off my hair last week, and it was liberating, lol!

I used to always be scared to cut off hair...but it grows back!!! Hehe. I had a bad experience when I was like 16, where the lady just mutilated my hair and I was miserable!

Anyone else feel better or worse after getting a major haircut?

Re: Cutting Hair
HI MARY!!!!! How are you??

Well I am not to fond of hair cuts. My mother always kept it very very short since I was a kid. So short you can't grab it with your fingers. When my hair finally got long up to the shoulders my tips were burned. My mom is hairstylist and she cuts my hair. Well she cut my whole hair!! I started crying so bad! I was in high school and kids school called me Freddy Cooger on Crack. Til this day if I need a hair cut she always cuts more that she should. It's only with me because she gives her clients exactly what they want. She gives me what she wants. lol

Believe me I am very tempted to cut my hair to my shoulders. My hair is almost half my back. My face is squared so I don't think it will look to good.

Re: Cutting Hair
Ah I hate getting my haircut!!! When I was in 7th grade, my mom made me get it cut up to my ears. Believe me, I cried! (I feel terrible for that poor hairstylist now :P ) I don't like deciding what type of haircut to get...mostly because I have a cowlick and big forehead. That was pretty much the last major haircut that I've gotten, and now I just keep it at my shoulders or a little below shoulders. My parents like my hair short, though!

That being said, I will still never pay that much for a haircut. I go to Great Clips where I go a specific person (some of the other people at the Great Clips in my town aren't so great) to cut my hair. My little neighbor once tried cutting her own hair--it was so funny, and she had bald spots in the back :/

Aw, Ingrid! At least your haircuts are free (and from your picture I think your hair is really cute!! :)

Re: Cutting Hair
After I got married, I had my hair cut and donated to Pantene Beautiful Lengths. They make wigs for cancer patients. There are other, similar organizations, like Locks of Love that you can also donate to.

Anyhow, they cut off a lot of hair. It was almost to the middle of my back and I ended up with a VERY short bob.

I also grew out my hair after that, then cut it short again, but I didn't have long enough hair to donate then.

Right now I'm growing my hair out so I can get some layers into it. It feels very plain at the moment.

Re: Cutting Hair
Hey I totally know where you're coming from !
I got a haircut last week, but not as dramatic as yours. Just about 4 or so inches off, the dead ends and whatnot, but I felt great after. It changes your look a little, and most of the time in a positive way. Haircuts are the good kinds of change I believe (as long as your hairdresser knows what they're doing!) Good luck with your new haircut :)

Re: Cutting Hair
Hey :)
So once upon a time ago, my haair used to be down to my waste. Last winter, I decided to try something new and to just cut it a little above the shoulder. Everyone liked it they thought i looked older and "sleek" lol. So chopping a lot of hair off can be a rewarding experience as long as you have an open mind to change. The only downside of this is that months later I started missing my hair, and I am now in the very long and annoying process of growing my hair back out. Its been stuck at this awkward middle length for what seem like FOREVER. But anyways. I say go for it! :)

Re: Cutting Hair
When I was younger my grandmother gave me a bowl cut... I hated it! I have has so many bad hair days in the past. But now I always have nice hair because I cut it myself.

This is one of my secret talents that none of my friends know about. I have been cutting my own hair since I graduated from high school. I started by doing buzz cuts, then I gradually learned how to perfect my hairstyles. I keep it pretty simple, short on the side and a little longer on top. I also trim my own body hair if you know what I mean...

Re: Cutting Hair
I just whacked all of my hair off on tuesday. It's pixie-short now. I kind of look like Peter Pan. (: Really, I love it. It's so short that I don't have to do anything to it.

I do believe that haircuts can change a person. Until April of '06, I had hair past my butt. I then cut it off to my chin. I think that allowed me to let go of middle-school me and morph into high school.

Re: Cutting Hair
I feel for all of you I like many rocked a horrible haircut for many of my years growing up. Luckily I went to my aunt's and she had some serious style and hooked me up. I love getting hair cuts but only from a female. To m there is something sensual about getting a hair cut that makes me like that.
I too once grew m hair out to just below shoulder length before cutting it off and donating it to Locks of Love during a motorcycle rally I was attending. My hair is wavy though so when the additional weight was cut off it curled up looking like an elderly ladies perm on top. Haha I tell you that was a rough rest the week at the rally.
