What are some things that you do for fun?

I know a lot of us probably don't have a lot of money... So, what can you do for fun that is free or doesn't cost a lot of money???

I love taking my son and my nephew to the park. It's free and it lets them blow off some of that energy! The zoo is also fun and not too expensive. It's great for the kids.

I work across the street from the mall and sometimes I'll go in there and just look at stuff. I don't spend any money and it's good excersize!

I like to walk around the lakes and play raquetball. It gets my aggressions out and its a great work out. I also like to go bowling. It's cheap and also a good work out. I have 2 nieces and two nephews so when I go home I chase them around for hours outside. I just like to play.

this is such a cute topic! it is true that you don't have to spend a lot to have fun. I especially like window shopping at the mall or downtown. Did you know you actually walk a mile without noticing at a mall? it is good exercise! i like taking walks at the lagoon near my school, its such a good place to take pictures or just relax. there is even a place to have a picnic! ALL free!

That is a good idea about the park. I hang out there a good bit. A place that my friends and I always go is my town's riverbank. We always hang out there. We just sit, talk, watch the ducks and the different people that walk by. We sometimes do crazy things like dance on the benches and have water fights. We also spend alot of time in Wal-Mart even if we don't buy anything. We just like to hang out because we don't have a mall and that's the closest thing to it.

Well, my friends and I go to McDonalds every Monday night and we split a large fry and just sit and chat. We also like to go Meijers and just wander around finding random things to amuse ourselves.

Parks are great! Also, historic preservations and bike/hike trails are fun too. They provide a great escape from your problems and give you some fresh air to breathe! I also like going to shows at local venues every now an then. Good music and not expensive like the big concerts. ((it's also good if you like alot of underground music like me.))

Okay, I think that this is a great forum, but I see one pertinent thing missing. You guys have all forgotten the time of year! It is winter and I can’t go to the park it's snowed over.

Sublime—I hope you come back to this forum to amybe suggest some things-how about the winter here, what do you do for free??
Also, I hope snowbabe reads this forum? Any suggestions on what to do here?

Not to sound too pathetic, but, I’m not from here so I really can’t say that I have any friends here. So I can’t go to McD’s and share a fry (actually I’ve never eaten there, I’d go to Chipotle instead). Anyway, you get my point… The people at my college that I’ve met all have families and they are busy with them.

NO MONEY
No friends in Minnesota
Too cold to go to a snow covered park
Anything free to do in Minnesota?
As for outdoor sports in the winter, that's not for me.
I think that the mall would get old real quick, going by myself, besides it takes gas to get there.
I’m in a real pickle, financially. I’ve never been so unstable before in my life, financially.
I’m just about to lose my mind going stir crazy in the house.
At least I’ve got ktu.com via the internet:)

Some feedback would be good about what to do in the winter for free.

Things I do for fun that are free: explore new places around your town...random neighborhoods around Christmas because the lights are pretty, going to a park, going to a campground and finding some good hiking trails, window shopping, picnics, taking a bat and some baseballs/softballs to the park and tennis stuff or soccer balls, we have this thing called the rail trail back home: you ride your bike on a trail next to a railroad track and it goes for miles and it's super fun...going to the beach if theres one near, or go swing dancing at a dance place at home- it's only a couple bucks and really good exercise! Roller blading and ice skating at rinks or just walking around my campus here at school.

Long list but all these things are soo much fun! Especially more so when you're with people that make them even more fun!

My favorite thing to do is go swimming! Or to a park and go swinging with some friends. Its relaxing and fun to have "Swing Wars" on them like we do. hehe

Seeing that I always seem to be broke, I have NAILED this question:
1) Go to the local courts and play a pick up game of b-ball with random strangers
2) Call up the boyfriend/girlfriend/both (lol) and go on a walk
3) Go to the beach
4) Play some instrument
and
5) MY FAVORITE: Sneak into the nearest resort/spa and use the jacuzzi/pool and act like you are a memeber!

THERE IS NO EXCUSE TO READ... EVER~!

And if worse comes to worse, there is always the TV and Ice Cream!

Yea its winter. I've lived in MN all my life. We just get out suits on and jump in the snow. There are tons of fun things to do in the winter time. Like going sledding or tubbing and the local hill....absolutly free. You can go snomobiling that only cost money for some fuel. You can take you friends out and have a snowball fight. Winter doesn't resprict me. I also go ice fishing and ice skating too. Get the picture?

I love to take pictures. Im really into photography and currently Im making a scrapboook of my boyfriends kids...its been real fun but the scrapbooking gets expensive when you first have to buy the stuff digital pictures are not that expensive. I got walmart and can print about 75 pictures for about 14 bucks..its great!

when my friends and i get bored, we walk to someones house (we live in a relatively small town) and blast songs from our favorite musicals while singing and dancing along. sometimes we even have a movie/workout marathon, where we watch movies for a whole day while doing various workouts the entire time.

WOW!! There's a lot of great ideas on here!!!!!!!!! COOL!
I wish it was warmer too. It will be again soon so I can go to the beach :). Until then I like to listen to music and dance around with my son (when he's here)!! Also, I like to take him to the botanical gardens (when it's warm) it has beautiful flowers and it's great excersize. While it's still cold rent a movie, go to a local museum, or if you're totally broke draw or write (whichever you like more). I don't have a lot of free time between work and school... except on the weekends.... but I try to make the best of it!! It sounds like you'll do too. FUN!!!!! :)

The reason I moved to Tahoe was so I could at least enjoy the outdoors without having to travel and spend money. I usually will go hiking with my fience, or we will go sit next to one of the mountain lakes and fish all day. This is usually what we will do since we don't have a lot of extra spending cash. Or we will play some video games.

Well I like going to the park with my friends even though we are all 17 it is lots of fun because sometimes our park is a little isolated while kids are at school. so we just have fun there in the swings in the slides at the skateboard park.. and we take lots of pictures making memories of our last days in highschool

1. window shopping-though you get tempted you can take note of things you like and dislike. You can still try on clothes at shops. You can smell things and sometimes there are also samples they give out so that's another plus

2. go to the park-at the park you can do alot of random things like frisbee, basketball, skateboard, rollerblading, etc

3. fishing (as long as you have the supplies before hand

4. library/barnes and noble (to me it's fun soo yeah). you can read stuff for free and hang out there and learn new things

5. game stores (uhh in new york city it would be nintendo world or toys r us) because you can play games there forever and you dont really get kicked out

6. explore town and take pictures (i like photography so this is always fun)

~Hey Sublime,
I got the picture, but I think you misread my post.
I had said that winter sports are not for me. Meaning I have two partially torn ACL’s in my knees and an elbow that is just about ready to break for the third time. Now do you get the picture:) So basically, sledding, tubing, skiing, ice skating and other winter sports are out of the question. I am unable to do most outdoor sports; at least not the winter ones.
I guess it will have to be window shopping and Barnes and Noble for me unless>>>

just hanging out with friends is extrememlyy fun, whether it be playing boardgames, twister, video games, hide and seek (you know you love it, hahaha), and my friends make alot of movies too. We use my video camera and just make fun of commercials and stupid celebrites, and it's always ten times funnier watching it back, hahaha.
