Malik Nadal Hasan
There was a shooting in Fort Hood, Texas and this man Major Malik Nadal Hasan is the suspected shooter. He was a soldier and he killed 9 and wounded 20 other soldiers. He has a very Arabic name. For more information turn on CNN or MSNBC or look it up on the internet. Do you think that our military could have terrorists in it? Let me know what you think.

Re: Malik Nadal Hasan
Our military most certainly has potential terrorists in it. For example Timothy McVeigh, who has a very Scottish sounding name was in the Army for 3 years from 1988 to 1991.

Check your stereotypes.

Dude I didn't ask that question because that is what I think. I asked the question to see what you think because it was a possiblity in my mind when I saw the news on it.
I think that if their were terrorists in our millitary that they wouldn't make that known to us anyways. I'm pretty sure that he was just rediculed because of his race or the way his name sounds or whatever he could of been rediculed for and I also think that being in the Military could do that sort of thing to you anyways. There's a lot of things that could make you insane in the membrane after that experience. Plus, he isn't the only soldier that had an outburst against his own people.

In Go Slug's defense, you did sound like you were implying that because he had a "very Arabic name," that he could be a terrorist. Perhaps you should be careful with your wording.

Mr. Hasan is a man who snapped because he was distressed about being deployed to Iraq. The fact that he's Muslim has nothing to do with his actions. The news doesn't say anything about him being taunted for religious or ethnic background. He was a respected mental-health professional. As you pointed out, he's not the only one in the army who has snapped and killed people.

There are many Muslims in the armed forces who loyally serve the U.S. It's quite frustrating that certain ethnic and religious groups have to face harassment and stereotyping because of the actions of a few.
