What are your special talents/hobbies??
Do you cook, knit, play soccer, or the like?

I want to know what you are good at :)

Re: What are your special talents/hobbies??
Hmm, let's see my talents...
I have a natural talent for tennis and ice skating. I hadn't skated in a few yrs but when I finally went again two years, I remembered everything I had learned from my lessons and just picked up where I left off. I absolutely LOVE ice skating and wish I could skate more often.

I have a knack for learning languages. My mom found a TV learning program teaching Spanish and I learned the basics before I went to kindergarten! It helped me and my brother in high school immensely bc we were naturally good at it thanks to my mom and that show. After much practice, many classes and readings, I can now say that I'm fluent. I'm going to Spain to study abroad next semester, so I will really get to put in practice then! :D I'm ready to add another language to my brain, though, and want to learn at least a couple more before or after I get a job.

I also have a really good memory--if you'd consider that a talent. I never forget someone's birthday/anniversary (unless I'm stressed or sthg) and almost always remember names and faces. I consider my good memory a gift and a curse at times. lol

What about you, BrittBritt? :)

Re: What are your special talents/hobbies??
Ahh, I've got to correct something...I meant to say that when I went skating two years ago. Hope that clears up any confusion. :) Oh, and I wanted to add that I learned how to play tennis when I was 7 or 8 and even though I don't play as much as I would like, I still am pretty good at it. Not good enough to go pro, but good enough to play people with different levels of skill. I think parents should focus on teaching their kids different hobbies and skills while they are still young bc that age is truly the growing age and it should be utilized.

Re: What are your special talents/hobbies??
As far as talents go, I would say that I am really good at school. I have a good memory and think I can retain a lot of memory in a small time. I study sure, but most the time I just have to read the pages assigned once and I have most the information in my head to do the test or the homework. I would definitely call this a talent and a hobby actually because I enjoy school and being able to attain information. It helps me perform well and keep receiving good grades.

Hobbies, I would say work is one hobby. I work at a movie theater so you can see how that can be fun. I get to see free movies and get discounts on all the food. What more could you ask for right? I love going to late night movies and just hanging out with friends after. I also like baseball and use to be really good at it until I had to quite because of health complications. Now I spend much time on the computer playing games and on my rockband. Which me and my friends all play on xbox live. It gets pretty competitive at times and we take it kind of serious.

Re: What are your special talents/hobbies??
I like to think I am good at volleyball. Haha. I have been playing since I was way younger and I really enjoy it. I am nowhere near amazing, but I can hold my own. :) I am currently on the Varsity volleyball team at my school, this is my second year on Varsity. I don't play as much as I would like to, but its still fun! When school season is over then club season starts and club is always a blast! :)

Another one of my talents is making people laugh. I am a pretty sarcastic person and I love to make people smile. I am always doing goofy things just to make people laugh. I enjoy it when people are happy. :)

Ladyluck- I have a good memory too! When I was little, I would always win matching games. :) Good times.

BrittBritt- You never answered. What are your talents? :)

Re: What are your special talents/hobbies??
Here are a few things I'm fairly good at:

1) Making normal situations totally awkward

2) BMX - i.e. grown men on little kids bikes risking life and limb

3) crocheting - I'll crochet you a mean afghan or a dainty doily

4) Procrastination - self explanatory, but we'll use the fact that I'm searching for scholarships as a sophomore for one example :/

5) Designing mechanical things - pretty much anything I decide to create works out amazingly and I never understand why. This is the primary reason for my pursuit of a mechanical engineering degree.

I like this forum, it's a very personal and enjoyable topic. Props!

Re: What are your special talents/hobbies??
Some hobbies I enjoy doing are running, golfing and gymnastics. But my all time favorite is definitely fishing! I live in Louisiana and day or night, rain or shine, it's always a good time!

I'm not sure if this is considered to be a talent or just another hobby, but I have always been interested in cycling and recently became certified to teach indoor cycling and absolutely love it! I find I'm fairly good at it and always have my class motivated and full of energy!

One talent I do have is the ability to succeed in school. Ever since grade school I have managed to hold an "A" average. Guess I'm just one of those nerds ; )

---I joined this site today and so far love it! This is a great forum to get to "meet" everyone!

Re: What are your special talents/hobbies??
I'll start with hobbies. My favorite thing to do is exercise. It's usually the best part of my day. I also like to swim, read, journal, bake, and spend time outdoors. I'm a nature person. In the summer my family and I do a lot of camping, and outdoor sports. Its always so much fun.

Special talents- I think I'm pretty good at painting. I love to be artistic and creative. I feel like it gets the ideas flowing for other areas in my life.

Re: What are your special talents/hobbies??
Hobbies vary from person to person. My hobbies are softball, basketball, and helping the community. I love to get competitive in sports, and scream and yell in excitement. Sports are a great way to express anger or excitment. Also helping out the community is a way to show your appreciation for what you have. Many americans take life for granted. When you help your community you realize how much other people appreciate little things. To see the smile on someones face for just providing them with a Christmas gift. It helps keep people down to earth as well.

Re: What are your special talents/hobbies??
In my opinion hobbies and what you are good at are two different things. I like to bowl and play pool, I am never the winner at either which makes both very humbling activities. However I am good at writing, poetry mostly but I have started writing a book in my spare time, not like I will ever publish it. I also enjoy reading and hiking. Dancing is alot of fun but I would never do a routine. I did the cheerleading thing it just wasn't for me. I dont like the structure very well. I enjoy feeling the music and moving my body the way I want to and not as someone else told me to move. I also enjoy volunteering at the local homeless shelters and donating blood.

Personally I live for music. Music is a way to relax and get away from crazy life. I dont know what I would do without music.

Re: What are your special talents/hobbies??
Well, there is a lot of talents that every person has. As for me, I am very talented tennis player and a good student with 4.00 GPA. I also have a talent to make people laugh around me. People say I should be a comedian. But who knows maybe I will? As for my hobbies, I collect world and USA coins, tennis, and ice-skating. Well and my other talents are still hidden somewhere, didnt find them yet. But I strongly hope that I will find them someday.

Re: What are your special talents/hobbies??
YLBaby--I loved playing matching games when I was little too! I always loved the card game Memory. People always wondered how I could remember where the cards were every round...I just thought it was easy and fun and it came naturally to me. :) I discovered a really neat brain-exercising game site called Lumosity. They have some cool matching and speed games that really help improve your memory and focus--they're a little addicting so play in your spare time! :) It's called lumosity.com. They really want you to sign up and pay to be a member, but you can still get a lot out of their free games. :)

mperry623--Welcome to Collegenet! So glad you found this site! It really is a great place to share your opinion and discuss challenging issues in our lives today....and get paid for it (eventually). Hope you keep posting. Louisiana sounds like a neat place to live and you seem really active there! I've always wanted to visit that state... maybe some day soon. :)

Ladyluck- Memory was one of my favorite card games! It was easy to me and I loved beating all my adult relatives.I have never heard of the site Lumosity. I will have to check that out sometime when I have a chance. :) Computer games get so addictive, I definitely agree.
