I think someone put it well:
"If you're an economist, the recession is ending/over. If you're a
politician, we're still very much in the middle of a recession."
I'm not an economist so I have no great opinion to offer here. I think
the holiday retail season will be a good gauge of how the recession is
doing. I do not think that the recession being over = everyone has a job
right away. I believe what they're trying to say is that there are signs
of growth and that everything is stabilizing. I'm guessing by the time I
graduate, May 2011, that this will all be a very bad memory.
Obama's approval rating was bound to go down at some point. It will
probably go up once this mess is over. I think the world will always be
at odds, not sure if this will ever be fixed. A lot of people are taking
paycuts but I'd assume it's better than unemployment.
The funny thing about this recession is that there is a plethora of jobs
available (I think I read a few million?) but employers cannot fill them
due to lack of qualifications and people not wanting to relocate. Will
be very interesting to see how that aspect pans out.
