Pursuing Your Dreams
I believe in continueing to pursue my dreams by going back to college even at my age of 46. It shows my children and their friends that one can achieve their dreams at any age and still make a huge difference. Because this effects everyone that I come in contact with and who comes in contact with me, young and old alike. We all have goals, dreams that we want to make into a reality. And being able to work in the technology field is a worthwhile achievement which is going to be awesome. That and for once and for all I can assist my kids with computers. I will have just as much knowledge as they do if not more.
Age is just a number and you can accomplish what you set in front of yourself. I am on my way.

Re: Pursuing Your Dreams
My uncle went back to college when he was 48. Everyone in his family, including his wife, graduated college and he said he felt embarrassed because of it. Although he said it was alot harder studying at that age, he said it was all worth it when graduation day finally came.
I wish the best of luck to you.

I remember attending one of my aunts' graduation ceremonies. She earned her master's degree, and was about 50 at the time. It really is incredible... and who knows... maybe it played into my decision to return to school. One of the things that I think is great is that we have the opportunity to change our lives, and its happening! :) Good luck on your journey!

Welcome to CNET =-) I agree with you. It doesn't matter what your age is like you say; it's all about your mindset and if you are willing to do it. You can do it. You know you can. And you are. Don't let anyone else tell you different.

Good for you. It's great that you are back in college to persue your dreams. It doesn't matter how old you are, if you have a dream, then you should persue it. Good luck with college. Work hard. I am sure you will do great.

WAY TO GO! : ) Best wishes as you travel this incredible journey! I agree with everything you've said. Very cool you're pursuing technology too!

I went back to school at 32 to finish up a long abandoned Associates Degree from when I was 22, and then kept going. I hope to finish up my Masters in about a year.

Age is just a number. When I worked at the community college I registered students from 8 to 80 on average (we had a children's program, that was for the 8-16 crowd). The oldest student I ever registered was 92.
Good luck to you and have fun! : )

Re: Pursuing Your Dreams
You said it your self, age is just a number. With any individual, whether they are young, old, or in between, the individual has to be determined. I don't like to use the word old, so I'll say the wiser. I like to see the mixx of different ages in the college/university atmosphere. I have learned a lot from my elder colleagues b/c they have so much wisdom to share. My aunt & mom are talking about going back to college to pursue on with a higher degree or a different program, & I am encouraging them to do so b/c I believe dreams haven't really been met until one has accomplished @ what they're trying to achieve. What is a dream left unfinished? If the individual is determined, no one or anything will stop them from achieving their dreams, goals, and so on. To everyone, keep pressing on even through the hard times. Believe me when I say this, in the end your reward will be waiting for you. Be Blessed & Stay Encouraged!!!

I really like your perspective Johannas. I mean really if you think about it, do you think that the people that are on top got there by not pursuing their dreams? You have to do what you want to do, and you're not going to do that my sitting around or conforming to everything else. You can do whatever you put your mind to.

Age really is a just a number. There was a man in his sixties that appeared short and scrawny that always went to the gym I used to work out at. He doesn't look like it, but that man is the best shape I've ever seen anyone his age. He was doing handstand pushups for goodness sake!

But the statement that age is just a number isn't just limited to physical activity. People can accomplish whatever they want to at whatever age they want to whether it be earning lots of money or gaining new knowledge. I see plenty of people at my college that look a bit older than the typical college student.
