What's your side "hustle"?
I know that for many of us here on CNET, money is hard to come by. Most of us have a regular 9 to 5 but some of us also have, what I like to affectionately call, "the side hustle". The side hustle is simply something you do on the side (aside from your regular paying gig) to help you earn a bit of pocket change.

My side hustle is that I do background for some local gospel and neo soul artists here is Chicago and I also do custom made crochet jewelry. It's not a lot extra but every once in a while it really makes a difference.

If you don't have a side hustle, what talents do you have that could or that you would like to develop into a side hustle?

SPEAK OUT CNET-ERS!!

My side hustle is whatever works legally for the moment lol! Rather its taking a friend to work for gas money or keeping the niece and nephews when money is involved.

Most of my side money comes from my Basketball Instructional Program and My graphics.

I'm also a small local rapper (i really don't like to call myself a rapper because of the negativity the name has drawn) however, its more money put in than coming out right now!!

Re: What's your side "hustle"?
This sounds like a good thing definitely.

I currently don't have a job because I just moved in two days ago. I want to get situated into my classes for at least a week first and then I'll apply. I already have a place in mind that I think would be good because it's just a clothing/gift store and they're only open until 7! sweet.

On the side, I do ChaCha, like windrider212 i think. I really don't do it much now because they just decreased their pay until you get to a certain point which never seems to get closer....... But maybe now I can now that my laptop is working yay. and we have internet in our room.

Otherwise, I think something that may get me a little bit of extra money is saving which I'm usually pretty good about. Also, before i moved i went through almost all of my accumulated stuff and weeded out a lot of CDs that I don't like or can spare. I'm trying to sell them but most stores are very picky.

I don't know of any talents though that could get me any money right now though. :(

Re: What's your side "hustle"?
Work full time at a plumbing company. I am a plumber, since I have been doing this for my dad since I was 12, but not according to the state of Indiana because I do not want to take five years of schooling and a state test for a short term use. This reason is obvious as to why not! Because I am going to school to earn my license to become an Elementary teacher some day.
So I have a few side hustles to begin I sell things on amazon.com. CD’s, books, video games, DVD’s and a few cell phones to name just some of the stuff I have sold. I do not do that one often.
The second it doing odd jobs with my business partner in crime. We both work in the plumbing field. So we do financially cheap jobs. People who were not going to call my employer. We always run the jobs by my boss so he is aware. Moonlighting is much serious offense in this business! So we always clear with the boss man. At least we are trying to get this side business started. Had one cancel because they gave the job to their unemployed untrustworthy cousin that does not know plumbing. I have a feeling we will eventually get that when the work the cousin did is breaking down.
The third is taking little odd jobs here and there and it does not have to be in the plumbing field.

That is it because I have no more time in my day and i have to save a lot of time for my two year old daughter! :)

I work an 8-5 shift and don't really have a "side hustle" since my classes now take up the rest of my days. But I have a binder with 50 poems that I have written. My boss tells me to go through them and see if any need editing and maybe I could make a book out of them. Then, see if I can get my book of poems published. I have never really been the kind of person to let others read my work, but its a thought. I might wait till I reach my 100 poems mark then decide what to do. I work at a printing company so it might happen someday. :)

I do freelance work for the travel magazine my mom works for in Indianapolis. I don't get very many stories from them, but at a $100 bucks a pop, it's nothing to turn down. Especially since the student paper I write for pays $10 a story.

I also work at Pac Sun and just landed a job at the Center for Survey Research on campus.

I actually have three other jobs beside my work that I do on the side. I am an umpire for a co-ed slow pitch league, a swim instructor on random week nights, and a tennis instructor every other Saturday. I enjoy my "side hustle" because they are all things that I love doing. My best advice to everyone; approach your Student Center and ask if they have a web site devoted to part time jobs. I was able to land all three of these jobs in a matter of 2 days from our University's web site.

I work part-time with the school district, but until school (for the kids) starts, I'm broke. I also write for the school newspaper, but stories are only $10-20 and illustrations are $10.
I definitely need to get a major side-hustle going on!
