keymorn's StandOut® Profile
My name is Eduardo and I work as an Oncology/Hospice Nurse who feels that the future of nursing is in the hands of those who practice it. I HOPE to help others reach their goal to become as successful as I am in a field so gratifying. It has allowed me to experience to blessings; to see the birth of a child and to guide someone to their next life after death.
I have been accepted into the Master's Program in Nursing Education; but truthfully, I am a bit nervous. Out of school for a while has made me settle into a life of comfort. But knowing that the older we get the harder it becomes to put up with the difficulties of the hospital setting; therefore, I decided to pursue and add a new branch to my try and become a professor in the field that has given me so much. With that in mind, I hope to inspire others to do the same.
My daily life/hobbies revolve around Health and Giving to others. I become an avid knitter who has developed three projects throughout my nursing career. The 1st project is called 'STRINGS OF LOVE' where I knit afghans for cancer patients letting them know that just like the stitches are knit to form one unit, we too as nurses become that stitch of hope through their journey of fear and uncertainty. The 2nd project is called 'IF ONLY A BAND-AID COULD CURE", knitting beanies for cancer patients who have lost their hair due to radiation or chemotherapy. And my last project that is very dear to my heart is called "AWARENESS IS THE KEY". Prevention seems to be the common denominator when it comes to causes of health. Knowledge is the armor in battling health issues. The sooner we teach our younger population regarding prevention against Breast and Testicular Cancer and the need for early self examination, the earlier we can prevent others from having a late diagnosis of CANCER.
Many people ask me if I take time for myself. I believe that you sleep when you die and that life is to short to become complacent and lounge when there is a wonderful life passing you by. Sure I do take time to myself! I am very health conscious and go to the gym at least 4 times a weak; how can I promote a healthy style to the patients I care for on a daily basis when I don't practice what I preach. Don't think that I'm pushy with my views because I'm not. I live by the motto: "LIVE AND LET LIVE", just don't push your views upon me. A healthy discussion is always welcome as long as we listen without judgment.
